Who Says You Can't Do Nighttime Things in the Afternoon?

Toby said lightly, "No, it's not even eleven in the morning yet. As for whether I'll be back tonight, that's exactly why I woke you up."

Peter's face immediately fell when he heard that.

"What? It's only eleven? God, you've got to be kidding me, Toby!"

"I fought the Lizard Man all night yesterday, so cut me some slack and let me rest a little longer..."

With that, Peter flopped back down, intending to go right back to sleep. But before his head could touch the pillow, Toby grabbed him by the collar of his pajamas and forcibly dragged him out of bed.

Toby did not let go of Peter's collar until he had dragged him back to his own room.

Peter lay on Toby's floor like a salted fish and was just about to complain some more when he caught sight of someone lying beside him out of the corner of his eye.

It gave Peter such a fright that the last of his drowsiness vanished.

Looking closely, the person lying beside him was none other than Dr. Connors, the Lizard Man who had beaten him up last night... no, who had fought him evenly all night long!

Peter sprang up from the floor, glanced down at the unconscious Dr. Connors, then looked up at Toby in surprise.

"Oh, Toby, you caught the Lizard Man? This is incredible!!"

Toby shrugged. "I wasn't planning on getting involved in this mess, but my trainee Spider-Man cousin was too useless, and it just happened to interrupt my date..."

"Now I'm handing him over to you. Lock him in the basement, and I'll deal with him when I get back."

"As long as you don't inject Dr. Connors with any more Lizard Regeneration Serum during that time, he's just an ordinary man."

"If you still can't keep an eye on him like that, then I'll have to consider taking back that Spider suit worth tens of millions of dollars that I gave you. Understand?"

After saying that, Toby did not wait for Peter to answer before turning and leaving through the door, leaving Peter alone in the room, ashamed, guilty, and stunned.

The moment Toby entered, Gwen's lovely figure rushed toward him, along with her warm red lips.

After a deep kiss, Gwen looked up at Toby with tears glimmering in her eyes. "Thank you, thank you, Toby!"

"If it hadn't been for you today, I really don't dare imagine what might have happened. I might have lost one of the most important people in my life!"

Toby wrapped one arm around Gwen's waist and used his other hand to wipe away her tears. "Saving my future father-in-law is one of my responsibilities, so there's no need to thank me for it, right?"

At that, Gwen's gaze toward Toby became even more tender.

He was still the same—cold on the outside, warm on the inside. Just like when he saved me back then, he didn't do it for money or lust. He simply wanted to save someone!

Unfortunately, Gwen knew none of that. From her perspective, Toby truly counted as a great hero.

Then, as the Ferris wheel slowly descended, Toby briefly told Gwen the whole story of how he had saved her father and defeated the Lizard Man in response to her curious questions.

Gwen listened with both shock and delight. She was shocked because, just as her feminine intuition had warned her, her father really had encountered the Lizard Man!

And naturally, she was delighted because her boyfriend Toby had been there, preventing a tragedy from happening!

When Toby told her that he had hung her father from the ceiling and that it would take around two hours for the webbing to dissolve on its own, Gwen did not feel the slightest sympathy for her dad. Instead, she burst out laughing.

Gwen thought the same way Toby did: let her captain father, who only knew how to chase criminals without any regard for the difference in strength between friend and foe or for his own safety, hang from the ceiling and reflect on his mistakes properly!

After getting off the Ferris wheel, Gwen even took Toby to the haunted house in person to see her father hanging there.

Captain Stacy was already somewhat embarrassed as he dangled from the ceiling, unable to get down. Seeing his daughter and her boyfriend arrive only made him even more embarrassed!

And Gwen had no intention of helping her father down. She merely called over the other officers in the amusement park, who still had no idea that the Lizard Man had already been dealt with and taken away and were still searching for him.

Now Captain Stacy, hanging from the ceiling, was completely socially dead.

What had begun as being watched by two people had escalated into being watched by all his subordinates.

Once the other officers had arrived and she was sure her father would not suffer any further mishaps there, Gwen took Toby's hand and left, humming a tune.

Because of the police evacuation and lockdown, the amusement park could no longer stay open.

So after leaving the haunted house, Toby and Gwen left the amusement park directly and headed to a restaurant, where they had one of those pretty meals girls loved.

Of course, Toby ate enough for three people.

And he was only seventy percent full.

It had to be said: aside from looking pretty, a fancy meal really had no redeeming qualities...

Originally, the two had planned to finish picking out a new car in the morning, then have fun at the amusement park until the afternoon. They would grab something to eat at the park around noon, then go have the fancy meal Toby owed Gwen in the evening.

As for the night, that was something the two understood without needing to say it.

But now, the plan couldn't keep up with the changes. Thanks to the Lizard Man and Gwen's father barging in, their amusement park trip ended before noon.

That left them with an entire unplanned afternoon to kill.

After all, Toby couldn't just skip the afternoon and move straight into the evening with Gwen, could he?

Probably... right?
