Background

Two years before her first appearance, Gwen was kidnapped by a gang leader seeking revenge on her father, Captain George Stacy. Toby, then operating as Poison Spider, saved her while carrying out a mission against the gang leader. Gwen later identified him as her rescuer by recognizing his build and distinctive woody scent, then began visiting the Parker home under the pretext of being Peter's friend. 6

The kidnapping permanently shaped Gwen's view of crime. She believes murderers deserve death rather than leniency and is drawn to Toby's decisive antiheroism, though she conceals the trauma left by the incident. 47
