Background
Two years before her first appearance, Gwen was kidnapped by a gang leader seeking revenge on her father, Captain George Stacy. Toby, then operating as Poison Spider, saved her while carrying out a mission against the gang leader. Gwen later identified him as her rescuer by recognizing his build and distinctive woody scent, then began visiting the Parker home under the pretext of being Peter's friend. 6
The kidnapping permanently shaped Gwen's view of crime. She believes murderers deserve death rather than leniency and is drawn to Toby's decisive antiheroism, though she conceals the trauma left by the incident. 47
Gwen became Toby's girlfriend and proved unusually capable of keeping secrets. After deducing that Peter was the new Spider-Man and that Dr. Connors was the Lizard Man, she did not expose either identity. 25
When Carlton Drake targeted her to force the Spider Family into a public confrontation, Gwen remained calm despite his threats and the planned livestream of her death. Toby's return and rescue reinforced her resolve not to remain someone others had to protect. 118 121
Appearance
Gwen is the long-haired Gwen Stacy of the Spider Family, distinguished from her short-haired Earth-65 counterpart. 214
- Her first Ghost-Spider suit was a hooded design with white on the upper half and black on the lower half. 126
- Serum later reshaped her suit into a textured, pure-white Symbiote Suit with a white chest emblem. 359
- She has also worn a black Symbiote Suit during the Dark Dimension conflict. 377
Personality
Gwen is intelligent, observant, and determined. She independently traced Toby's hidden identity, deduced Peter and Connors's secrets, and repeatedly acts on her own judgment rather than waiting to be rescued. 6 25
Her desire for strength comes from loyalty rather than simple ambition: she refuses to be Toby's burden and wants to protect both him and her father as his “knight.” 121 She admires Toby's ruthless methods, but her first mission also demonstrates the danger of her adopting overwhelming force before learning Peter's level of restraint. 138 139
Gwen can be competitive with her alternate selves, particularly when their powers differ, but she ultimately accepts their presence in Toby's life and works alongside them. 214 364
