Peter Becomes Spider-Man?

After learning the news, the three gossip-hungry spectators all looked disappointed.

When Toby tossed the new car keys to Ben, sure enough, the old couple gave him another round of scolding.

Only Peter eagerly raised his hand to add to the chaos, saying he wanted to test-drive the new car.

In the end, because Toby knew exactly how to handle the old couple's mindset, the price of around one hundred thousand landed right at the upper limit of what they could accept. So, after giving Toby an earful, smiles still appeared on their faces.

May smiled because her son was so filial, and she was happy.

As for Ben, he was smiling more because he was about to have a new companion.

After all, no man could dislike his own new car.

In the end, Ben beat Peter to it and became the first to sit in his new companion.

This was his beloved car. How could he let someone else take its first time?

As for Toby, he only counted as the valet who had driven the car back for him, all right? He absolutely didn't count as the first driver!

Watching Ben's perverted, lovestruck behavior as he touched the steering wheel, then the car door, then got out to touch the car's rear end, Toby, Peter, and May all covered their faces in speechless exasperation.

In the end, Peter regretfully failed to test-drive Ben's new car because Ben had spent so long fondling his beloved ride and still hadn't had enough.

After changing clothes with Toby, he drove to Osborn Tower.

Although Ben had always been reluctant to replace his car, Toby actually had a car of his own—an Audi R8.

He had not bought it, though. Kingpin had given it to him after one job.

So Toby had told the old couple that he had done an excellent job on a project and his boss had rewarded him with the car.

There was nothing wrong with that statement, really. Wasn't an assassination job still a project?

But after driving the Ford Raptor he had bought for Ben, Toby felt uncomfortable whenever he drove his Audi R8 again. It felt a little cramped.

After all, while the Audi R8 wasn't as low-slung as a sports car, it was still rather compact for a two-meter-tall giant like him.

So Toby planned to find time to trade it in for a big vehicle like the Raptor.

Mm, he would bring Gwen along to give him some advice when the time came.

As for this R8, he would give it to Peter then. Peter had his driver's license anyway.

If Peter knew Toby intended to give him the R8, he would probably be dumbfounded.

After the two arrived and got out of the car, Peter looked up at Osborn Tower, one of New York's landmark buildings, and his expression suddenly became somewhat complicated.

"What's wrong?" Toby asked when he saw this.

Peter shook his head, but there was obvious sadness in his eyes. "Nothing. It just reminded me of some things from the past. My parents used to work for Osborn Enterprises, and one of my best friends was from the Osborn Family. But in the year my parents had their accident, that friend of mine also happened to go abroad to study..."

Hearing Peter's words, Toby stroked his chin thoughtfully.

The good friend Peter mentioned was undoubtedly Harry Osborn, but Toby had never known that Harry had gone abroad to study at the same time as Peter's parents died.

Was that timing really just a coincidence?

Could these two matters be connected somehow?

But before Toby could figure out the connection, Peter's smile returned.

"Still, when I was at my lowest, it was lucky that I had you, Uncle Ben, and Aunt May. Otherwise, I really don't know how I would have made it through!"

Toby fell silent for a moment, then patted Peter on the shoulder. "We're brothers. I was supposed to be by your side. Always..."

Looking at Peter, who had endured so many setbacks in life yet could still smile so brightly and retain such innocence and kindness, Toby suddenly began to wonder whether it had been right to stand by and watch Peter's parents die...

With the power of a fully developed Spider-Man, he could easily kill Norman Osborn without anyone noticing, even wipe out the entire Osborn Family!

Toby looked up at Osborn Tower, a glint flashing in his eyes.

Perhaps Peter should resolve this matter himself, so he would not be left with regrets in his life.

After all... if nothing unexpected happened, Peter would soon gain Spider-Man's abilities as well!

He had agreed to accompany Peter to Osborn Enterprises not just because Peter had asked him to. More importantly, he remembered that the radioactive spider that turned Peter into Spider-Man was inside Osborn Tower!

It was also the Super Spider that Peter's father had altered by incorporating his own genes!

Only someone carrying Peter's father's bloodline could become Spider-Man after being bitten by that Super Spider, rather than being poisoned to death or turning into a genetically mutated spider monster.

But Peter's father and Toby's father, Ben Parker, were brothers. So in theory, shouldn't Toby be able to undergo the Super Spider's transformation too?

Should he give it a try?

Anyway, in the story, there was more than one radioactive spider...

A bold idea suddenly came to Toby.

But to be safe, Toby still planned to let Peter try first. As for himself, he would catch a few radioactive spiders and take them back for experiments. He would only proceed after confirming there was no problem.

After all, he already had Spider-Man's abilities. If he got bitten again, who knew whether some accident like genetic collapse or mutation might happen?

He had no desire to turn into some spider monster with eight eyes, six legs, and web-shooting silk coming out of its butt...

"Hey, Toby, Peter, what are you two still doing standing at the entrance? Come in already!"

Gwen's sudden voice interrupted Toby's thoughts and pulled Peter out of his sorrow and emotion.

The two walked toward Gwen, who was waving to them from inside the building. After swiping the temporary passes Gwen had given them for the security guard, they entered Osborn Enterprises without any trouble.

Gwen was now wearing a white researcher's lab coat. Not only did it do nothing to diminish her beauty, it made her seem even more intelligent and captivating.

Even Toby could not help complimenting her. "The lab coat suits you. You look beautiful."

Hearing that, Gwen turned back with a sly smile. She deliberately spun around in front of Toby and winked at him.

"Oh~ So that's the kind of look you like. If you treat me to another meal, I'll wear this on our next date. How about it?"

Gwen had only meant to tease Toby, but to her surprise, he nodded immediately.

"Sure. How about next weekend? Dinner's on me."

The moment Gwen heard that, her pupils dilated, and her heart pounded so violently that even Toby's extraordinary hearing could pick it up clearly.

Watching all of Gwen's unconscious physical reactions, Toby smiled slightly. It seemed Gwen really did like him on a physiological level.

Just two simple invitations to a date had made her emotions surge so intensely twice.
