Background
Steve first appears in Sokovia under the identity of David Rogers, living with the Rogers family. After protecting a girl from the Viper Gang, he defeats the gang and learns that a Stark Industries shell injured him six years earlier while he was protecting his brother. The incident is tied to the damage that left him physically altered and without use of his lower body. 83 92
Eunuch Tai rescues Steve on Invincible East’s orders and offers to teach him Evil-Warding Swordplay. Steve accepts, quickly discovers an extraordinary aptitude for martial arts, and comes to regard Tai as his teacher. 92 93
After restoring Hell’s Kitchen and confronting the authorities sent against him, Steve learns in Asgard that he is the genuine Steve Rogers rather than a blood relative of the Rogers family. Though he possesses David Rogers’ memories, he resolves to change America through his own actions. 119 121 123
Personality
Steve is consistently protective of civilians and unwilling to ignore suffering, even when doing so conflicts with his own immediate interests. He prioritizes saving Westview residents over pursuing the Remains of Rama and continues rescuing people after his appearance causes them to fear him. 426 497
His early political outlook is idealistic and reformist. After witnessing Sokovia’s community programs, he believes America can be improved by removing corrupt figures and creating opportunity; experience in Hell’s Kitchen, Texas, and New America gradually forces him to confront deeper structural inequality. 112 154 567 579
Steve is also exceptionally resolute under psychological pressure. He resists the erosion of the Demonic Art and Zombie Virus, stands against ONE-ABOVE-ALL’s fear-inducing command, and demands to know why humanity must submit. 486 523
