Background / History

America initially faced a rapid rise in extraordinary incidents after the “Black and White Battle” in San Francisco. The event became nationally known, while S.H.I.E.L.D. concluded that superpowered individuals could continue evolving and began considering serum research based on their biological traces 9 12.

Nick Fury viewed conventional military force as insufficient against powerful individuals and pushed the Avengers Initiative as a necessary countermeasure. America subsequently created special action teams to handle superpowered people, contributing to an escalating arms race among military and intelligence institutions 47 74.

After Nick Fury’s Skrull connections were exposed, S.H.I.E.L.D. was disbanded and replaced by the five-nation T.E.N.J.I. framework. American consortiums supported Valentina de Fontaine’s aggressive recruitment of extraordinary individuals, while American authorities sought to identify, register, recruit, or neutralize unregistered superhumans 174 194.

The resulting American Provisional Federal Government centralized authority formerly divided between the White House, Congress, and the Pentagon. Its administrative efficiency improved, but real power remained with the consortium magnates behind the government’s public institutions 283 290.

Tom Versack, formerly Secretary of Agriculture, became president after the attack eliminated the President’s constitutional successors. Unable to manage the new era’s crises independently, he relied on experts such as Tony Stark and the consortiums supporting the reconstructed federal structure 290.

Civil War and Fragmentation

A proposed nuclear strike on Los Angeles shattered confidence in the federal government. California and Texas consortiums formed the Southwest Alliance, accelerating state secessions and conflicts between regional blocs 318 319.

By the time Steve Rogers established the Lone Star Republic in Texas, America had split into four principal regimes:

America recovered magical books from the operation. Valentina ordered scholars to translate them for practical use, rejecting their initial focus on the texts’ historical value 207 208.

Super Soldier Program

In a later 1939 setting, Nick Fury became disillusioned with American officials and secretly pursued a Super Soldier project using Skrull technology and G’iah’s genes. His objective was to create a force capable of rivaling Carol Danvers and to recruit powerful Mutants outside normal government control 458.

Carol eventually allowed G’iah One to copy her abilities, but warned Fury not to let the clone lose control. The program later provided American elites with hope that they could resist S.P.E.A.R. 479 482.

Multiversal Activity

American elites trapped inside the Home Base Universe’s quarantine zone abandoned their territories when a portal opened to another timeline. Fearing the Lone Star Republic’s advance and worsening shortages, they crossed into the other universe with their wealth and planned to occupy the alternate America’s territory and resources 392.

Carol Danvers and Phil Coulson rejected the invasion plan. They crossed into the main universe to warn its Avengers rather than support the invading Americans 392 393.

A truce was later negotiated between the two Americas after Carol demonstrated overwhelming force to the Roosevelt administration. The administration accepted that its military could not defeat her, much less an Eastern superhuman said to be stronger than her 453.

Interstellar Expansion

America later began a major spaceship-manufacturing effort, drawing talent and funds from abroad. Tony Stark withheld his most advanced automated-factory technology from the government, supplying only improved conventional manufacturing while secretly building his own production base and fleet 559 560.

On July 4, 1996, America’s first spaceship officially departed for New America in the Centaurus constellation. The project was led by Stark and marked America’s entry into the interstellar era 560.

American consortiums and major families subsequently secured planets for private development. The Rockefeller and Morgan alliances developed “Rockefeller Planet” for thirty-five years, while Stark Industries also gained an inhabitable planet through its technological importance 575 584.
