Abilities & Traits
Poisonous Mist
The snake spreads a fishy-sweet dark-green mist that obstructs and weakens opponents.
- Causes dizziness, chest tightness, and sluggish soul-power circulation. 16
- Carries a rotten, fishy odor and is considered extremely deadly. 16
- Dissipated after the snake was crushed by Ning An. 17
Venom
Its dark-green venom is highly corrosive and dangerous even to experienced soul masters.
- Drips from its fangs and burns holes into the ground. 17
- Tang Ya and Bei Bei consider its poison a major threat in a direct fight. 16 18
High-Speed Lunge
The Mandala Snake can launch itself at prey with explosive speed.
- Charged Ning An like a black bolt of lightning with the apparent intent to swallow him whole. 17
- Its speed was noted as unusually increased during the encounter. 17
- Was severely slowed and immobilized by Ning An's Furious Bear Roar. 17
Story Role
The Mandala Snake emerges from its poisonous mist while Ning An's group travels through the forest. The Third Elder identifies it as a thousand-year soul beast, believing it may have been driven mad by hunger and mistaken the group for prey. Ning An chooses to fight it alone as practice. 16
After Ning An reveals the Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear Martial Soul, the snake attacks him directly. Ning An restrains it with Furious Bear Roar, then crushes its body with Dark Gold Bear Stomp, leaving it mortally wounded. 17
Rather than taking the soul ring himself, Ning An gives Tang Ya the opportunity to deliver the final blow. Tang Ya kills the incapacitated snake and absorbs its thousand-year soul ring, advancing to Rank 31 Soul Elder. 18
Relationships
- Ning An — Opponent and slayer; he immobilizes and nearly kills the snake with two soul skills. 17
- Tang Ya — Finishes the wounded snake and absorbs its soul ring as her third ring. 18
- Bei Bei — Regards the snake as a dangerous opponent that would require major effort for him and Tang Ya to defeat. 18
- Third Elder — Identifies the soul beast and initially shields the group from its poisonous mist. 16
Trivia
- The snake is referred to as both “Mandragora Snake” and “Mandala Snake” in the account of its encounter. 16 17
- Ning An's first use of the Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear's first and second soul skills had severely injured him, but after defeating the Mandala Snake with them again, he reports no discomfort. 5 18
