Personality

Tang Ya is deeply devoted to the Tang Sect and has spent much of her life preserving its remaining secret arts. Her confidence in Ghost Shadow Track comes from persistent training since childhood, and she refuses to accept Ning An's claims about the Tang Sect's inheritance without proof. 12 13

Her sect loyalty leaves her vulnerable when Ning An demonstrates a superior version of the techniques she values. After the duel shatters her certainty, she is devastated but accepts the consequences rather than abandoning responsibility for the Tang Sect. 13 14

She is also protective of those she considers benefactors. Believing Ning An to be a vulnerable support-type soul master, she joins Bei Bei in shielding him from the thousand-year Mandragora Snake. 16

Story Role / Major Arcs

Confrontation over the Tang Sect Secret Arts

Tang Ya arrives with Bei Bei after recognizing Ning An's use of Ghost Shadow Track. As the Tang Sect's current sect master, she demands to know why an outsider knows what she considers the sect's ultimate technique. 11

When Ning An claims that the Tang Sect inherited only incomplete fragments of the Nine Treasure Arts, Tang Ya is shaken but challenges him to a race to a Ghost Orchid one hundred meters away. 12 13 Despite using Ghost Shadow Track and Blue Silver Grass to its fullest, she loses when Ning An activates the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda's Speed enhancement. 13

The loss forces her to confront the possibility that the Tang Sect's cherished arts are incomplete and derived from another lineage. Ning An spares the Tang Sect from destruction and offers it affiliated status under the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, with eighty percent of future hidden-weapon and resource income surrendered to the larger sect. 14

Mandala Snake Soul Ring

Tang Ya and Bei Bei attempt to protect Ning An when a thousand-year Mandragora Snake appears, unaware that he possesses a second, assault-type martial soul. 16 17 After Ning An defeats the snake, Tang Ya uses Blue Silver Grass to finish it and absorbs its resulting thousand-year soul ring. 18

The absorption raises her to Rank 31 Soul Elder, giving her a third purple soul ring and renewing her determination. 18
