Background / History

Hanzō was returning from a ninja mission when he was suddenly teleported to the top of a tall structure. There, unable to understand Lü Bu's language, he fought the displaced general until the system's language transmission revealed that their clash had been a misunderstanding. Both were subsequently summoned by Rody and became his subordinates. Unlike Lü Bu, Hanzō requested nothing for himself, declaring that a ninja was a tool and that serving as Rody's tool was an honor. 93

After joining Heaven Kingdom, Hanzō guarded Connecting Island, screened prospective recruits, and escorted them to Rody in Sky City. Windfire Wheel upgraded his equipment with Vibranium and forged him a new Adamantium ninja blade. 94

Rody later assigned Hanzō and Lü Bu to capture Gecko Moria and his Devil Fruit-using subordinates. Hanzō killed Absalom, secured Moria, and searched Thriller Bark for Perona, but failed to locate her. Rody then ordered him to select talented recruits and establish a ninja unit. 95 97

During the Wano campaign, Hanzō fought Queen, repeatedly evading his lasers and nearly killing him with stealth attacks, Shadow Clones, and his Adamantium blade. He also prevented Yamato from interfering with Rody's battle against Kaido. 101 104 105

Following Wano's conquest, Hanzō subjugated the former Onibanshu. He retained 800 capable ninjas and 500 reserves, dispersed the remainder into other units, renamed the organization the Anbu, and became its minister. He later presented Kozuki Sukiyaki's head and explained that Sukiyaki had been controlled by Orochi while an impostor had acted in his place. 112 113

He sensed that something was unusual about Komurasaki and Kyoshiro, but chose not to warn Rody because he believed neither could threaten his lord. 108 He is also calm in battle, showing no concern for opponents who reject Heaven Kingdom's demands and coolly ordering their destruction. 135
