Chiyu gathered allies for the Owl Organization while Konoha formed the Defense Force under his leadership, and Obito seized control of Kirigakure. Chiyu agreed to teach Neji after pushing Hizashi to let his son choose his own future, then prepared to take office as his eyesight worsened.

• Chiyu explained his mixed Senju and Uchiha heritage and the Owl Organization’s goal, then Yahiko, Pakura, and Raiga Kurosuki agreed to join.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi, Danzo, and Minato Namikaze established the Konoha Defense Force under Chiyu, with Shisui Uchiha as deputy, to make regulations and arrest ninja.
• Obito Uchiha defeated Karatachi Yagura with Pain and Konan, controlled him and the Three-Tails, and helped begin Kirigakure’s Bloody Mist purge.
• Chiyu attended Minato Namikaze and Miyuki Uzumaki’s wedding and asked Hizashi Hyuga to let him take Neji as his disciple.
• Hizashi initially rejected Chiyu’s offer to remove Neji’s Caged Bird Seal, but changed his mind after Chiyu challenged his acceptance of the clan’s oppression.
• Chiyu agreed to teach Neji, while Kisame Hoshigaki joined Obito’s Akatsuki and helped him continue massacring Kirigakure’s clans.
• Chiyu’s eyesight began to blur as he considered saving Witness Points, and Danzo told him the Konoha Defense Force headquarters was ready.
• Chiyu told Orochimaru about the Owl Organization and his plan to profit from the Uchiha Clan, and Orochimaru said he would join if Chiyu left Konoha.

Chiyu established the Konoha Defense Force, used it to target the Uchiha Clan, and later left to master Sage Mode at Ryūchi Cave. After returning to Kushina’s pregnancy and breaking with Danzo, he resigned from the force as Minato restructured it.

• Chiyu launched the Konoha Defense Force with Shisui Uchiha as vice-captain and secured approval for regulations allowing arrested ninjas to pay bail.
• Chiyu and Danzo used patrols to provoke and arrest Uchiha Clan members, while Shisui Uchiha paid their bail and tried to protect his clansmen.
• Chiyu put Kakashi in charge of the force and traveled to Ryūchi Cave, where he passed the trials and learned Sage Mode and the cave’s Sage Arts.
• While Chiyu was away, Kakashi discovered that Kushina Uzumaki was pregnant, and Chiyu returned to Konoha to name their son Sōshi Uzumaki.
• Chiyu joined plans to protect Miyuki Uzumaki during childbirth, then confronted Danzo at Root and declared that he was no longer his subordinate.
• Chiyu resigned from the Konoha Defense Force and collected its bail money, while Minato Namikaze appointed Shinsuke Nara captain and removed Shisui Uchiha’s vice-captain position.

Chiyu intervened during Obito Uchiha’s attack on Konoha and helped seal the Nine-Tails into Miyuki Uzumaki and Naruto, while the crisis left Minato Namikaze unconscious. As Hiruzen Sarutobi returned as Hokage and Danzo lost his advisor position, Chiyu monitored Danzo’s plots until Hiruzen sent Kakashi and the Anbu to confront Root.

• Minato Namikaze appointed Shinsuke Nara captain of the Konoha Defense Force, and Chiyu later confronted Zetsu and negotiated a deal to stay out of Obito Uchiha’s invasion in exchange for Black Receivers and White Zetsu bodies.
• Obito Uchiha attacked Miyuki Uzumaki during Naruto’s birth, extracted the Nine-Tails, and unleashed it on Konoha while Chiyu fought Kakuzu and Kisame Hoshigaki before racing to help contain the beast.
• Minato Namikaze and Miyuki Uzumaki disagreed over how to seal the Nine-Tails, and Chiyu stopped Miyuki’s attempted Reaper Death Seal before helping Minato divide the beast between Miyuki and Naruto.
• After the attack, Chiyu challenged Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo over their conduct, and Danzo resigned as Hokage Advisor while Hiruzen returned as temporary Hokage.
• Miyuki Uzumaki grieved Minato Namikaze’s decision to make Naruto a Jinchuriki, and Chiyu offered to support her if she chose to leave Konoha and join the Owl Organization.
• Danzo arranged an attempt on Hiruzen Sarutobi’s life, but Hiruzen survived the ambush and confronted Danzo after Chiyu’s Shadow Clone observed the plot.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi announced that Minato Namikaze had died, then summoned Kakashi and the Anbu to investigate Root, where Danzo refused to obey and ordered them captured.
• Kakashi struck down Root ninja as the clash escalated, and Hiruzen Sarutobi arrived with Anbu reinforcements to confront Danzo.

Chiyu helped Miyuki Uzumaki escape Konoha with Naruto left behind, then confronted Hiruzen Sarutobi to keep Naruto out of Danzo’s control. As Konoha stabilized and Hiruzen moved against Orochimaru, Chiyu’s warning reached Orochimaru just before Hiruzen and Kakashi confronted him.

• Hiruzen Sarutobi transferred Kinoe to the Hokage’s Anbu, named him Yamato with the codename Tenzo, and recruited Kakashi, who secretly joined to keep Chiyu informed.
• Kushina Uzumaki gave birth to Sōshi Uzumaki, while Miyuki Uzumaki grew afraid for Naruto after villagers called for the Child of Calamity to be killed.
• Danzo arranged for the Uchiha Clan to be moved to Konoha’s outskirts, and Miyuki asked Chiyu and Kushina for help leaving with Naruto.
• Chiyu advised Miyuki to leave Naruto in Konoha, then helped her escape and introduced her to Yahiko, Pakura, and Raiga Kurosuki as they fought off Konoha pursuers.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi considered placing Naruto under Danzo’s control, but Chiyu attacked Danzo, destroyed his Sharingan, and forced Hiruzen to promise that Naruto would not be harmed or made a weapon.
• Chiyu told Kushina that Miyuki had left with Yahiko and that Naruto would remain in Konoha, while Hiruzen suppressed rumors about Naruto and Danzo’s forces targeted the Uchiha Clan.
• After a year of relative stability, Hiruzen Sarutobi decided Orochimaru was a liability and planned to kill him, while a warning from Chiyu reached Orochimaru before Hiruzen and Kakashi arrived at his laboratory.
• Orochimaru prepared to leave Konoha, but Hiruzen Sarutobi forced open his laboratory door, and Orochimaru asked whether Hiruzen intended to kill him.
