Crossing the uninhabited wilderness and walking along a road that rivaled those of the imperial capital, Glaite and the other three were somewhat surprised.
Even the roads leading in were like this. How much effort had Dole put into it? But considering that he was now the city lord and concurrently the president of the Wizard Alliance, it became easy to understand.
What was so hard about it? He only needed to assign tasks. There were probably plenty of wizards available to do the work.
"I'm really green with envy," Eugene said with a self-mocking smile. "That guy Dole is truly heaven-defying."
Glaite smiled faintly. "That's his talent. Why else do they say a genius is a genius? Wherever he goes, he can't conceal his brilliance. Dole is that sort of person. Even in the imperial capital, only those two can compare with him."
Eugene nodded. "Those two are freaks too, but they're only formidable in elemental magic. Dole, on the other hand, is a freak in every respect—an alchemy freak, a potion-making freak. I don't know what his elemental abilities are like, but if he could cultivate to Level Six, how poor could they be? We shouldn't call him Dole anymore. We should just call him Dole the Freak."
Pfft.
The two ladies spat in unison.
Leona elegantly wiped her mouth, then reproachfully smacked Eugene on the head. "Talk about him like that, and be careful Dole doesn't have someone chop your head off."
Eugene shrank his neck, then shook his head and put on an utterly grief-stricken expression. "He wouldn't. At most, he'd spit in my face."
Everyone burst into laughter.
Just then, a grand and imposing caravan came down from the ridge ahead, banners flying above it. Glaite took one look and immediately smiled.
"What a coincidence.
