Emperor Yale looked at the old ancestor and said without much courtesy, "The Grand Ancestor has already spoken. Unless Dole agrees, no one is to force him. Besides, he is the son-in-law of our royal family, so he counts as one of us. If things turn ugly, it will be hard to answer to the Rhine Family as well. Those people are not easy to reason with. Speak to him first. If he agrees, then fine. If he refuses, you cannot forcibly take him as a disciple."
The old ancestor was somewhat impatient. He looked at Emperor Yale and said sternly, "I have my own considerations. Have someone bring them here."
Although Emperor Yale was Level Nine, he had no particularly good way to deal with an eighth-level wizard. Wizards were far more adept at wielding power than warriors.
Expressionless, he said, "Old Ancestor, let me put the ugly words upfront. If Dole does not agree, I will not hand him over to you. Without him at Albis Mountain, no one else can suppress it."
Albis Mountain was of immense strategic importance to the Empire. He could not simply hand it over to the other party.
Among the several old ancestors, this one had the worst character and the worst temper. Emperor Yale simply did not want to agree.
At the palace gates, a maid dressed in yellow court-attendant robes quickly emerged from within and headed toward the entrance.
Arriving before the group, her crisp voice rang beside their ears. "My lords, Emperor Yale summons you. Please follow me."
Without even glancing at the two men, Dole said to Tom beside him, "Farewell."
Tom nodded slightly.
Dole and Aixi headed into the palace without looking back.
