Background / History

The Yellow Mountain Sword Sect is a sword cultivator sect from the Cultivation World. Its entrance is protected by a formation gateway; beyond it lie mountain peaks above a sea of clouds, where spiritual energy is markedly denser than outside. Visitors must undergo identity-token verification even when recognized by the gate guards. 24

New recruits enter as outer sect disciples and spend their first ten years under East Dawn Peak's management. Their identity-plate numbers also designate their East Dawn Peak cave abodes. 25

East Dawn Peak specifically trains newly inducted disciples. Its leadership includes Peak Master Han, Elder Meng, and Elder Mo. 26

The sect maintains a Trial Tower for sword cultivators. Outer sect disciples use it both to gain swordsmanship insights and to compete for a top-ten Qi Refinement ranking that grants entry to the inner sect; inner sect disciples also challenge it. 39 50

The sect later held an internal tournament for Foundation Establishment cultivators. Its top five participants would represent the sect in an inter-sect tournament, receive resources and magic treasures, and secure Supreme Purity Domain quotas. 111

Founding and leadership

The sect was founded by the Yellow Mountain Sword Venerable, Huang Yue, a legendary figure in its original Cultivation World. 629 After ascending to the Luo River World, Huang Yue retained deep feelings for the sect he had created and recognized Qin Huaian as the first Yellow Mountain Sword Sect disciple he had encountered there. 714 766

Shen Canglan served as sect master and was already at the Nascent Soul Late Stage when Qin Huaian met him. 72 He later entered the Violet Thorn Great World, where he spent centuries trying to locate the sect's scattered disciples. 993

Dispersal into the Luo River World

More than 500 Yellow Mountain Sword Sect disciples entered the Violet Thorn Great World from the Cultivation World, but they arrived scattered across an immense region. 977 Shen Canglan found only two through chance encounters over several centuries. 993

Heavenly Treasure Sacred Land later searched for sect disciples to use as leverage against Qin Huaian, capturing and threatening members who had not yet ascended to immortality. 766 768 One captured disciple was reported likely killed. 822

Qin Huaian's induction

Qin Huaian entered the sect through its guarded mountain gate and became an outer sect disciple under East Dawn Peak. 24 25 He trained through the Trial Tower, whose sword-light trials and puppets tested cultivators' swordsmanship as well as cultivation level. 39

Sect competitions

The sect's disciples competed internally through Trial Tower rankings and a planned Foundation Establishment tournament. Qin Huaian later demonstrated the competitive strength of its sword cultivators by defeating Zhang Xinghan, a top-ten Trial Tower disciple from Joined Palms Peak, in two strikes. 50 111 131

Separation and hostage crisis

After sect disciples were scattered into the Luo River World, Heavenly Treasure Sacred Land began hunting them to threaten Qin Huaian. The use of Yellow Mountain Sword Sect members as hostages provoked the founding patriarch's fury. 766 768

Rescue and reunion

Qin Huaian stormed a Heavenly Treasure Sacred Land encampment, rescued imprisoned sect disciples, and placed them in his Small World. 965 Major sects later offered protection or returned additional disciples they had located; Heavenly Dao Sect alone had found 25. 976 977

Qin Huaian eventually brought more than thirty rescued disciples to Violet Thorn Sacred Land, where they reunited with Shen Canglan. The sect members affirmed that Qin Huaian's enemies were their enemies and hailed him as the sect's greatest disciple. 993 994
