Background

Shu Lichuo was born into the Shuli Tribe, a small Northern Frontier tribe dependent on the Royal Court's protection and tribute system. She became its youngest chieftain and spent years investigating the Abyss of Return and the Kingdom of Return. 879 880 882

Born with supreme ice-and-fire meridians and the Lunar Yin Embracing Yang Body, she wielded Yin-Yang Chaos Fire from childhood. After awakening, she refined a supreme ferocious soul, attracting the attention of the Royal Court's lord; upon reaching adulthood, she married into the Royal Court and became its Holy Empress. 818

As the Holy Empress, she had two sons, Ba Ba'er and Ba Longxiang. When both became entangled with the Calamity Blood Evil Emperor, Shu Lichuo preserved a fragment of Ba Longxiang's clarity after his transformation and sought Bai Yu's aid to reverse it. 822 She subsequently opened the Calamity Blood Realm to cultivators under the pretext of a demon hunt, offering the Royal Court treasury as reward. Her plan was later revealed to have used the treasury as bait to draw cultivators into the realm. 833 875

Her sons were ultimately consumed and transformed into the Calamity Blood Evil Emperor. Though devastated, Shu Lichuo fought the creature directly and refused to abandon them until it was too late. 862 After the disaster, she surrendered the Royal Court's foundational Heaven-Mending Scripture to Bai Yu, effectively severing her path back to the Royal Court. 865

Bai Yu later captured her and proposed that she become one of two Empresses of his future Feather Spirit Dynasty. She treats Lu Chuan, despite his devotion, as a useful chess piece, and she was prepared to use the Royal Court's treasury and the lives drawn to the Calamity Blood Realm in pursuit of her objectives. 833 875 Even so, her sons were her greatest attachment: Ba Ba'er's disappearance and Ba Longxiang's corruption drove her to seek extreme measures to save them. 822 862
