That was because it was his favorite. After trying all manner of new varieties, he always returned to the embrace of Sour Mushroom Wine.
Sour Mushroom Wine was the most widespread and cheapest of wines, easy to make, with readily available ingredients and a widely known brewing process. It was also the first wine he had tasted after coming to the lands where humans lived.
