The Ill-Tempered Beautiful Girl
The windows were shut tight, and it was obvious they had been sealed.
Mu Xiao used one high-vibration electromagnetic combat knife to anchor his body while using the other to cut an opening through the window. He slowly widened the gap until he broke one of the metal-framed glass panes, then removed the other, revealing an entrance large enough for a person to pass through.
"I'll look for a rope." Mu Xiao looked down at An Rongru and quietly reminded her, "Call for me if anything happens. Don't worry about alerting the others."
After An Rongru nodded in agreement, Mu Xiao slipped through the windowsill.
This was a high-end screening room fitted with all sorts of audiovisual equipment, practically a miniature cinema. Mu Xiao could not help but reflect that the lives of the wealthy were beyond anything ordinary people could experience. Unfortunately, the world had already changed drastically, and all luxuries were nothing but hollow things.
Mu Xiao did not dwell on it. He began searching the room for something he could use to pull An Rongru upstairs, but after searching the entire place, he could not find a suitable long rope. He had no choice but to ask An Rongru where there might be ropes or similar items in the house.
The villa had six floors, and Mu Xiao was currently in a room on the fifth floor. An Rongru told him there was a storage room on the third floor, where there should be suitable tools.
Mu Xiao stepped into a spacious corridor. Many classical oil paintings hung on the walls, making it feel like an art gallery steeped in culture. He had no interest in appreciating An Rongru's taste. Instead, he strode briskly toward the staircase, keeping away from the windows as he walked to avoid letting the people outside spot him.
He arrived on the third floor and found the storage room An Rongru had mentioned. Inside, he found a hover disc used for high-altitude work. It was a one-meter metal block when folded up; once activated, it expanded into a disc-shaped tool capable of floating under the weight of several people, completely replacing the ladders used for climbing in the old era.
"So there was one of these. That makes things easier." Mu Xiao picked it up and headed back to the fifth floor, repairing the hover disc's functions with his mechanical ability as he walked.
As he retraced his route and passed a doorway, a door ahead suddenly opened. A young girl with a gloomy expression and her head slightly lowered walked out. Her short, elegant hair framed a clear and lovely face as pale as snow. She wore a pure white sleeveless top and shorts, her exposed skin as delicate as warm jade. She looked like a pure, beautiful girl who had stepped straight out of an anime, flawless in every way.
However, when Mu Xiao's gaze fell on the girl's chest, he could not help sighing inwardly in regret...
"You're courting death!"
A disgusted, furious shout rang out. A small, fair fist burst forth with unexpectedly fierce power, shooting toward Mu Xiao's eye. Before he could even make a defensive move, her long, pale leg had already gathered force, ready to follow with an even more vicious, brutal kick.
Looks like I've provoked a little tiger... Mu Xiao's hands flashed as fast as the wind. With a sharp smack, he knocked aside the powerful little fist. At the same time, he shifted slightly and bent his leg, every muscle hardening like steel as he blocked her vicious groin kick.
Jian Hanyao had just come out of the gym when she suddenly noticed someone ahead of her. The instant she raised her head, she saw an unfamiliar, damned man staring at her "undeveloped" chest with a "pitying" look. The fury that had built up deep within her erupted like a volcano. Her hands and feet became deadly weapons as she launched a fierce, relentless assault, her attacks pouring down like a raging storm.
Yet Jian Hanyao gradually realized that no matter how fast her fists were, he casually swatted them aside as if he were chasing flies. Her consecutive kicks against his legs felt as though she were kicking an alloy steel plate, leaving her feet aching and numb...
Where did this bastard come from? Could he be a helper those animals brought in?!
Fine sweat appeared on Jian Hanyao's pale forehead. She thought of the beasts in the villa district, people worse than scum. They had not been able to do anything to her before, but now there was this man, who had not even used his full strength. Fear and rage welled up in her heart as she gritted her teeth and prepared to use a killing move.
Her evolution level should be eighteen gene resonances. She's nearly caught up to my number of gene optimizations. Her physique is a little weaker, but her overall combat power is excellent... Huh!
Mu Xiao was surprised that this fifteen- or sixteen-year-old beautiful girl possessed such remarkable fighting skills, at least at the level of "Combat Mastery." Her physique was also at the peak of SS-class, and she would likely break through to an SSS-class physique soon. Clearly, she was a new human—and a new human with tremendous potential.
But in the next instant, Mu Xiao's surprise turned into shock. The girl attacking like a tigress suddenly underwent a violent change in aura. A red glow appeared over her skin, and madness filled her clear eyes. Her offensive seemed to gain a motor, with both her strength and speed more than doubling. Her "Combat Mastery" instantly rose to "Combat Specialization." Her moves became tighter and more concise, every strike carrying lethal killing intent. Her aura grew increasingly explosive, yet her techniques remained orderly. She was fighting with complete calm and awareness...
"Her aura is berserk, but she remains calm in battle. Could her ability be..."
Mu Xiao had no choice but to set down the hover disc and use half his combat power to deal with this girl who had suddenly gone berserk. His eyes fixed seriously upon her clear yet youthful face. At this moment, she resembled a passionate female warrior, her expression burning with a love of battle.
"Damn it! It's this freak!"
Mu Xiao's dormant memories from his rebirth finally awakened, and he remembered who this person before him was.
"Can we stop?" Mu Xiao spoke in a negotiating tone to Jian Hanyao, this freak whose attacks surged like a tide. "You should know I've only been defending and have no intention of counterattacking. The longer you use your innate ability, the more you raise your combat power, and the greater the strain on your body. Your body may even collapse because it cannot bear your combat strength. I suggest you stop."
Mu Xiao did not possess Combat Specialization, but his body had extremely powerful combat instincts, allowing him to counter every move accordingly. His own combat power was no weaker than Combat Specialization—in fact, it was even above Combat Mastery. It was simply all sealed within his body. First, his physique restricted him from unleashing overly powerful combat strength. Second, his realm restricted his consciousness and movements from fully synchronizing.
His battle awareness was far ahead of his body, but various limitations restrained his performance. In truth, as long as he absorbed the source of the "Combat" ability, his body would become further synchronized with his former battle awareness. He would instantly comprehend his own fighting style, improve faster than others, and unleash extraordinary strength.
Jian Hanyao treated Mu Xiao's gentle advice as though it were nothing. Not only did she continue her fierce assault without gratitude, she even snapped back sharply, "Why don't you go die? If you die, then I can stop!"
Even a clay figurine had some anger, much less someone as ruthless and fierce as Mu Xiao. If it were not for An Rongru's sake, he would have beaten this arrogant girl flat long ago.
She lived in this villa and was still at the age of a young girl. It was not difficult for Mu Xiao to guess that she was the daughter An Rongru worried about day and night. He had not expected An Rongru to have such a highly gifted daughter, because in the future era of evolution, her daughter would become an extremely famous powerful woman.
However, Mu Xiao had never heard An Rongru's name in the past. Thinking of how her daughter had later developed a temperament that alternated between cold and fiery, he could roughly guess that An Rongru probably did not exist in the future era of evolution—or rather, she was already dead. That was why it had dealt her daughter such a devastating blow, causing her to immerse herself wholeheartedly in the pursuit of power.
"An ability that grows stronger against stronger opponents has its limits too!"
Mu Xiao shouted, fully unleashing the advantages of a new human's "top-tier" physique. He threw a lightning-fast punch through her tightly woven attacks, turning defense into offense and pressing forward step by step. He completely disrupted her rhythm, then changed his unstoppable fist into a palm and struck out with a blend of hardness and softness, sending her flying into the wall.
Had it been a punch, Jian Hanyao would have been seriously injured even if she did not die, because her physique could not withstand the power of Mu Xiao's heavy blow.
Jian Hanyao forced herself back to her feet. An unnatural flush covered her little face, and her eyes remained unyielding, filled with the will to fight to the death. Yet her weak, gasping state revealed that she was nearly at her limit.
Her ability, "Stronger Against the Strong," had been interrupted, making it extremely difficult for her to continue fighting. Moreover, her body had been heavily drained, and the backlash of having no strength left was already appearing.
"Your eyes and will are good, but your ability isn't mature enough, and your physical strength is nothing special." Mu Xiao looked at the young, beautiful girl. She had a lovely, innocent appearance, but her fierce gaze, violent aura, and unruly manner all proved that she was a girl with an extremely nasty personality.
She was a contradiction between personality and appearance.
"You piece of shit, don't you dare judge me. You don't have the right! You're just a pile of stinking dog shit. Looking at you one second longer makes me sick!" Jian Hanyao bared a mouthful of white teeth that glinted sharply, like a dying beast ready to launch a desperate final counterattack at any moment.
Mu Xiao found it hard to imagine that such a pure and beautiful-looking girl could say something so uncouth and unpleasant.
"I can't be bothered arguing with you. Wait until your mother comes and teaches you a lesson." Mu Xiao finally understood why An Rongru had told him not to provoke her daughter. This girl was a difficult, sharp-tongued person with a terrible personality as well.
An Rongru must have been afraid he would not be able to tolerate her daughter, right?
Mu Xiao shook his head with a bitter smile, picked up the hover disc from the floor, and prepared to return to the fifth floor to find An Rongru.
But at that moment, a fierce gust of wind struck from behind him, carrying hatred so deep that it was a matter of life and death.
"...I'll kill you, you beastly piece of scum!"
Upon hearing news of her mother, Jian Hanyao mistakenly believed Mu Xiao had captured her. The moment she thought of what had happened to the women in the villa district, the rage surging within her nearly burned away all her reason. She was determined to kill the man before her even at the cost of her own life.
"She really didn't know when to quit!" Mu Xiao seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. He ducked beneath her sweeping kick, spun like a top, and retreated a step. Speaking rapidly, he said, "Your mother asked me to escort her back. She's already outside waiting for you."
Jian Hanyao's attack seemed to freeze in place. Her expression turned extremely grave as she asked coldly, "Are you telling the truth?"
"Use that pig brain of yours and think—what would I come here for, just to take a hoverboard?" Mu Xiao looked at her as though she were an idiot and said mockingly, "Even if I did have other intentions toward you, with your pathetic skills, by the end you'd only be left lying obediently on the ground with your ass up for me to fuck."
After saying that, Mu Xiao did not even spare her another glance and headed straight upstairs.
"Bastard! Bastard! Bastard!"
Mu Xiao's words infuriated Jian Hanyao to the extreme. Her delicate, pretty face flushed with shame and anger, yet she had no way to refute him. She could only keep cursing, trying to ease the turmoil in her heart.
