Background / History
Xu Qianqian was born with a sealed Martial Soul and Rank 0 Innate Soul Power. Her father, Xu Lin, sealed both her Martial Soul and Soul Power to protect her after a prophecy foretold that she would destroy the Star Crown Sect and the Star Luo Empire. The Star Crown Sect’s ancestor also left a mark on her soul to monitor her. Xu Lin ultimately sacrificed his own Martial Soul and cultivation in an attempt to change her fate. 273 274
After Xu Lin’s death, Xu Qianqian arrived in Notting City. City Lord Xiao Yuanshan accepted her as his adopted daughter, partly out of guilt over failing to save her father. Xu Qianqian pragmatically accepted the arrangement to secure safety, resources, and a place in the City Lord’s Manor. 2 3
She entered Notting Academy despite having no cultivable Soul Power. Her ability to appraise soul beasts earned her admission, an honorary instructor position, and access to the academy library. Over six years, she copied Yu Xiaogang’s notes, recorded books from Notting City’s Spirit Hall branch, and studied Martial Souls, Soul Power, soul rings, and soul beasts. 5 7
Unable to cultivate through ordinary methods, Xu Qianqian remade her own Martial Soul through a second awakening and began using the natural energy of heaven and earth. She later learned that her original inability to cultivate was not natural: her Martial Soul had been sealed. 29 237 274
Appearance
Xu Qianqian is a silver-haired young woman whose appearance became increasingly ethereal as her elemental power developed. Her body did not visibly age during a prolonged period of secluded cultivation, and she was once notably petite; by her later appearances, she looked more like a youthful young lady. 20 23 322
- Long silver-white hair, sometimes described with a faint green tint. 221 281
- A distinctive cowlick atop her head. 322
- Phoenix-like brows and a composed expression in battle. 237
- Often wears light-colored or snowy white clothing. 281 322
- Can create bodies and disguises from wind, including her identity as Wendy. 28 97
Personality
Xu Qianqian is calculating, cautious, and intensely pragmatic. As a child, she used Xiao Yuanshan’s guilt to secure a future in Notting City, concealed the full scope of her abilities from outsiders, and refused recruitment attempts from both the Heaven Dou Empire and Spirit Hall. 2 5 97 98
She values knowledge, self-reliance, and preparation. Rather than accepting Yu Xiaogang’s theories uncritically, she copied his materials, tested ideas through research, and developed a cultivation method suited specifically to herself. She repeatedly warns others that her method cannot simply be replicated. 7 29 96
Despite her ruthlessness toward enemies, Xu Qianqian is protective of those she considers her own. She supports Xiao Chenyu, saves and later preserves Dugu Bo, mentors Dugu Yan and the Imperial Fighting Team, and gives Qian Renxue both practical aid and difficult advice. 91 107 134 236 251
Her long-term ambition is not political rule. She wishes to travel beyond Douluo Continent and experience other worlds. 218
