Background / History

Xiao Chenyu was the biological son of Notting City's lord, Xiao Yuanshan. When Xiao Yuanshan adopted Xu Qianqian as his daughter, Chenyu immediately rejected her status as his older sister. He considered her inability to cultivate humiliating to the City Lord's Manor and challenged her to a duel to settle their seniority. 3

Despite possessing innate rank-four soul power, Chenyu was defeated by Xu Qianqian's Thousand Winds, Myriad Clouds domain. The Gale Wolf King phantom within the domain terrified his wolf martial soul into retreating, leaving him unable to continue fighting. The loss forced him to acknowledge both Qianqian's strength and his place as her younger brother. 4

Over the following years, he became more disciplined under Qianqian's influence. He sought a high-quality first soul ring, successfully absorbing one from a nearly four-hundred-year Bloodfeather Wolf, then acquired a wind-attribute skull bone and a second soul ring from the Two-Tailed Gecko incident. 8 9 10

Tang Hao later massacred the Xiao Family, killing Xiao Yuanshan, Chenyu's mother, and Xiao Li. Chenyu survived only because Qianqian rescued him. After learning that Tang Hao had acted to conceal Tang San's identity, he swore revenge against both Tang Hao and Tang San. 21 22

Qianqian subsequently evolved his martial soul into the Gale Wolf King and entrusted him with an Eye of God. With his improved potential, Chenyu reached Rank 29, then became a Level 31 Soul Elder after obtaining his third soul ring. Qianqian left him to pursue her own goals, telling him that his future strength would depend on his own efforts. 23

After Qianqian later requested it on his behalf, Heaven Dou Emperor Xue Ye preserved Chenyu's inheritance of Xiao Yuanshan's noble title and elevated it by three ranks in recognition of the late city lord's service. 97

During training in the Star Dou Great Forest, Chenyu encountered members of Godwind Academy. His age, strength, and lack of an existing academy affiliation led Godwind Academy to specially recruit him. By the time of his reunion with Qianqian, he had grown markedly more mature and was known publicly as Xiao Feng. 242 243

Qianqian later rescued him from Huyan Zhen's killing intent, which had been directed at him because Huyan Zhen associated Chenyu's Gale Wolf King martial soul with Qianqian's earlier conflict with Huyan Li. During their reunion, Qianqian revealed that she had killed Tang Hao, thereby avenging Xiao Yuanshan's death. 243

During the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Academy Elite Tournament, Chenyu attempted to rescue Shui Bing'er from Shi Nian of Canghui Academy after sensing abnormalities in the wind element. Personality

Chenyu was initially arrogant, status-conscious, and easily provoked. He resented Xu Qianqian because her adoption placed a “useless” girl above him in the household hierarchy, and he repeatedly invoked his position as the City Lord's biological son. 3

His defeat by Qianqian and the nightmares caused by her domain made him markedly more cautious and obedient. He began respecting her judgment, relied on her knowledge of soul beasts, and showed generosity by urging Xiao Yuanshan to give Qianqian the Two-Tailed Gecko's soul bone. 5 10

Although he once led students who bullied work-study students, he later attempted to defuse Xiao Wu's challenge rather than fight recklessly. He rebuked Ling Feng and Liu Long for abusing his name, showing increased accountability. 12

The destruction of his family left him grief-stricken and revenge-driven. His determination to oppose Tang Hao and Tang San became the central motive behind his cultivation. 22 23
