Background / History

Tang San is a transmigrator and the son of Tang Hao. At his martial soul awakening in Holy Soul Village, he reveals Twin Martial Souls and innate full soul power, marking him as an exceptional talent from childhood. 1

He enters Notting Academy and studies martial-soul theory under Yu Xiaogang, whom he regards as his teacher. 8 During his early years, he remains friends with Mo Lin despite Mo Lin being taken to Spirit Hall after awakening. 18

Following the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Tang Hao takes Tang San away for private training. Tang San spends two and a half years developing his Clear Sky Hammer techniques, including the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer, while Xiao Wu accompanies them. 96 128

Tang San later enters Slaughter City alone to cultivate killing intent and protect Xiao Wu from exposure. He earns one hundred victories in the Hell Slaughter Arena and clears Hell Road, receiving the Divine Slaughter's Domain upon leaving. 129 166

Appearance

Tang San's appearance and bearing change drastically after his prolonged training and the awakening of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline; even Flender and Liu Erlong initially fail to recognize him. 129 301

  • His physique becomes substantially more developed than during the Elite Tournament. 433
  • He has long, flowing hair by the time he reappears around the Clear Sky Sect conflict. 276
  • He can confirm his identity by displaying his Twin Martial Souls and Eight Spider External Soul Bone. 301
  • His Blue Silver Emperor awakening gives him visible traces of his mother’s appearance. 129

Personality

Tang San is described as open-hearted and principled in his treatment of people he does not consider criminals. He values group interests and openly disdains Feng Xiaotian for abandoning his academy’s match over a personal rivalry. 2 68

He is disciplined and capable of self-correction. After becoming conceited over his domains and Slaughter City achievements, he accepts Tang Hao’s rebuke and admits that he had become arrogant. 166

Later experiences make him more emotionally volatile and impulsive. His avoidance of questions concerning Tang Hao and the Clear Sky Sect strains his relationship with Titan, while his unauthorized Grace Hall infiltration exposes a tendency to prioritize his personal judgment over the responsibilities of leading the Tang Sect. 399 440

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass, later awakened as the Blue Silver Emperor, and the Clear Sky Hammer. 1 167

  • Uses Blue Silver Emperor vines for restraint, suppression, and lethal attacks. 167
  • His Blue Silver Emperor bloodline can suppress plant-type martial souls such as Ghost King Vine. 167
  • First reveals the Clear Sky Hammer during the tournament finals, producing a heavenly phenomenon. 90
  • Defeats the martial-soul-fused Xie Yue and Hu Liena despite sustaining numerous wounds. 90

Tang Sect Techniques

Tang San retains techniques from the Tang Sect of his previous life. 14

  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Soul-Power-free footwork praised for its battlefield value; it later allows him to catch Tang Yuehua amid the shockwaves of a Titled Douluo’s Martial Soul Avatar. 57 277
  • Mysterious Jade Hand — Used to block the Elephant Armor Sect’s Cannonblade Wheel. 53
  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — A force-redirection technique; Tang San fails to neutralize the Cannonblade Wheel’s separated attack during the tournament. 53
  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — Used to recover part of his condition after being frozen and discarded outside Gengxin City. 435
  • Purple Demon Eye — His spiritual-power technique; before gaining a head soul bone, it remains short of the Mustard Seed Realm. 129
  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer — A Clear Sky Hammer technique completed during Tang Hao’s training. 128

Domains and Killing Intent

Tang San possesses the Blue Silver Domain and Divine Slaughter's Domain. 166 430

  • Divine Slaughter's Domain strengthens Tang San while weakening opponents through “presence” and is unaffected by Twin Martial Souls. 166
  • His Divine Slaughter's Domain is the weakest among recorded Gods of Slaughter because the killing intent he developed in Slaughter City is comparatively weak. 166
  • His murderous aura can suppress and injure lower-ranked Soul Masters, but he still struggles to control it consistently after leaving Slaughter City. 167

External Soul Bone

Tang San possesses the Eight Spider External Soul Bone. 92 301

  • Its severed portions begin regenerating when Mo Lin heals Tang San after the tournament finals. 92
  • Alongside his Twin Martial Souls, it serves as unmistakable proof of his identity. 301

Forging and Hidden Weapons

Tang San relies on Tang Sect hidden weapons and has strong practical forging ability. 430 568

  • Without hidden weapons, he cannot safely overwhelm a Soul Sage and can barely escape when facing several opponents of similar strength. 430
  • His hidden weapons prove difficult to mass-produce, becoming a major obstacle to the Tang Sect’s development. 462
  • Scores 100 in practical work but only 50 in theory on the Craftsmen Association examination, narrowly passing overall. 568
  • His theoretical weakness concerns magical artifacts and Soul Tools rather than hands-on forging. 568

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — Storage tool used to carry clothing and equipment. 129
  • Hidden weapons — Tang Sect weapons that significantly increase his combat threat. 430
  • Eight Spider External Soul Bone — External soul bone carried on his back. 92 301

Relationships

  • Xiao Wu — His devoted partner and closest companion; Tang San enters Slaughter City alone partly to keep her from being exposed to its Titled Douluo residents. 129 301
  • Tang Hao — His father and demanding mentor, who trains him in the Clear Sky Hammer and pushes him to develop genuine killing intent. 96 128
  • Yu Xiaogang — His teacher; Tang San continues to regard him as one of the few people he sincerely respects. 8 440
  • Mo Lin — Childhood friend and fellow transmigrator; their relationship persists despite Mo Lin’s association with Spirit Hall and later conflicting interests. 1 18 90
  • Dugu Bo — An elder who counsels Tang San through his doubts about Blue Silver Grass and Twin Martial Souls. 61
  • Flender — Former dean and trusted elder who later reprimands Tang San for acting irresponsibly as Tang Sect Master. 301 440
  • Titan — Strength Clan elder and Tang Sect supporter whose trust in Tang San erodes as Tang San avoids discussing his background and acts increasingly irritable. 399 400
  • Bai He — His granduncle and Speed Clan patriarch; Bai He refuses to join the Tang Sect because of the Speed Clan’s past crimes for the Clear Sky Sect. 403
