Background / History

Qian Daoliu is Spirit Hall's Grand Worshipper, a century-old Rank 99 powerhouse whose authority extends over the Worship Hall and its worshippers. He spent years largely confined to Douluo Hall, worshipping the Angel God statue and accepting that he could not break through to level 100 by ordinary cultivation. 125

Twenty years before the Clear Sky Sect's destruction, he permitted his son Qian Xunji to act against the sect. Qian Daoliu viewed the pursuit of a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast as both a valuable opportunity for Spirit Hall and a test of his son's capability; he also believed Spirit Hall held the moral high ground because human–soul beast relationships were considered taboo. 302

Although he initially attributed Spirit Hall's revival to his own leadership, Qian Daoliu later recognized that its recruitment system—accepting talented commoners and covering their cultivation expenses—was the true foundation of its recovery and expansion. 334

Personality

Qian Daoliu is calculating, disciplined, and deeply focused on Spirit Hall's long-term survival. Even after the collapse of his relationship with Qian Renxue leaves him emotionally shaken, he quickly returns to political calculation; Spirit Hall's future ultimately matters more to him than any individual relationship. 332

He can be fiercely protective of Qian Renxue and concerned for his subordinates. When Snake Lance Douluo and Pufferfish Douluo fail to locate Qian Renxue, he initially releases enough Soul Power to terrify even Golden Crocodile Douluo, but later accepts that the two acted reasonably and orders further care for the injured worshippers. 227 273

His pragmatism also makes him wary of unknown powers. Rather than treating the destruction of the Clear Sky Sect as an uncomplicated victory, he immediately identifies the unknown forces behind Grace Hall's rise as new threats to Spirit Hall. 302

After sensing the aura of a god in Spirit City, Qian Daoliu leaves Douluo Hall for the first time in years to identify the unknown inheritor. He directly questions Mo Lin about which divine position he has inherited. 125 126

Qian Renxue's Disappearance

When Qian Renxue vanishes from Heaven Dou City, Qian Daoliu loses his temper for the first time in decades and suspects Mo Lin's involvement. He ultimately accepts Golden Crocodile Douluo's view that Qian Renxue's abilities and disguise soul bone make an ordinary accident unlikely. 227

Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan–Clear Sky Sect Conflict

Qian Daoliu receives Qian Renxue's request to spread news of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's planned war against the Clear Sky Sect. He initially assumes the report is part of Qian Renxue's throne-seizing scheme, judging the clan far too weak to challenge the Clear Sky Sect directly. 272

After Golden Crocodile Douluo, Moon Wolf Douluo, and Sky Halberd Douluo return battered from their contact with unknown opponents, Qian Daoliu recognizes that forces capable of challenging peak Douluo have emerged and begins treating them as a grave strategic danger. 272 273

Destruction of the Clear Sky Sect

The Clear Sky Sect's elimination surprises Qian Daoliu and the Worship Hall. Although he regards the sect's removal as the end of a major future threat, he warns Golden Crocodile Douluo that two unknown powers have emerged in its place. 302

“An old threat has indeed been removed. But compared to twenty years ago, haven't two unknown threats emerged instead?” 302

Truth Between Grandfather and Granddaughter

Qian Daoliu is surprised when Qian Renxue returns as a Soul Douluo with a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring and an evolved Angel Martial Soul. Her newly gained power, which exerts bloodline suppression over his own Martial Soul, makes him suspect that Mo Lin is connected to her transformation. 324 325

When Qian Renxue questions him about Qian Xunji, Qian Daoliu panics and struggles to disclose the truth. The resulting revelation damages the trust Qian Renxue once placed in him. 325 477

Conflict with Mo Lin

Qian Daoliu prevents Golden Crocodile Douluo from continuing his fight with Mo Lin, then questions Mo Lin over telling Qian Renxue about her parents. Despite their hostility, he seeks Mo Lin's assessment of Spirit Hall's future and listens to his argument that Spirit Hall cannot become a true nation through Soul Master supremacy alone. 332 333

Later, after taking Hu Liena away on the grounds that her divine inheritance conflicts with the Angel God, Qian Daoliu faces Mo Lin directly. Mo Lin defeats Golden Crocodile Douluo and demands Hu Liena's release, while Qian Daoliu refuses to yield without explaining Hu Liena's condition. 522 524

Angel God Succession

Qian Daoliu remains with Qian Renxue during the final Angel God succession. As the ritual engulfs him in golden flames, Mo Lin promises Qian Renxue that he will preserve Qian Daoliu's life while allowing her to fulfill her grandfather's wish. 584 585
