History

The Coiling Dragon Staff was awarded to Ao Yin by the Sign-In System at Holy Soul Village as a Level 1 reward, initially pending martial-soul awakening 2. During the awakening ceremony, Ao Yin concealed his Dark Sacred Dragon and revealed only the staff. Its black body, carved patterns, and primordial aura led Su Yuntao to dismiss it as an inferior mutation 3.

Ao Yin later discovered that its supposed snake carvings were actually nine dragon patterns. At its lightest, the staff weighed ten jun, while its unrestricted weight was ten thousand jun; activating one dragon pattern increased its weight from ten to one hundred jun 7. He activated all nine patterns during his confrontation with Yu Xiaogang, proving that the staff did not require the latter's guidance to awaken 11.

The staff's first ring came from a newborn Fire Glass Vine Serpent, a sub-dragon species whose Southern Bright Lihuo attribute matched the staff closely 26. Ao Yin subsequently raised that ring's age to more than five hundred years and used its first soul skill, Red Tide, against the Six-Winged Frost Centipede 27 28. After killing the centipede, he made its six-hundred-year ring the staff's second soul ring 29.

With both rings manifested, the staff gained the appearance of a true-dragon weapon: a crimson Fire Glass Vine Serpent coiled around one end and a snow-white Six-Winged Frost Centipede around the other 30. Li Yusong later identified it as the unparalleled supreme-grade mutation among Dragon-Pattern Staff martial souls 40.

The Coiling Dragon Staff is a long, black, ancient-looking staff marked by nine intertwined dragon patterns. When dormant, its dim patterns make it resemble an ordinary fire poker; when empowered, they glow and the weapon emits heavy draconic pressure 3 7.

• Ao Yin initially needed to consume considerable soul power merely to wield it, but gained sufficient strength to train with it at one hundred jun after receiving the Strength of One Hundred Jun reward 7 8.
