Background / History

Blue Silver Grass is initially regarded by Yu Xiaogang as a weak, transitional martial soul, with the Clear Sky Hammer expected to become Tang San's true primary path. Yu Xiaogang considers a ten-year Lone Bamboo an acceptable fallback first-ring option because of the grass's perceived limitations. 21

Tang San instead absorbs a Datura Snake soul ring. The resulting changes affirm Yu Xiaogang's Martial Soul Mimicry Theory: a plant martial soul can absorb a beast soul ring and inherit some of the soul beast's characteristics. 24

Tang San later inherits two Man Faced Demon Spider soul rings for Blue Silver Grass, favoring poison and offensive control. Qi Dao judges that this choice has left its hardness and toughness below what a plant-type martial soul would ordinarily develop. 119

Tang San carries the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline through his mother, Ah Yin. At level fifty, he seeks the Blue Silver King to awaken Blue Silver Grass into the Blue Silver Emperor martial soul. The ceremony fails because his Blue Silver Emperor Origin is too depleted. Tang San suspects damage either around his birth or from bearing the strain of Shrek's Seven-in-One Fusion Skill, but neither cause is confirmed. 118 152 153

Blue Silver Entanglement

Tang San's first soul skill causes Blue Silver Grass to erupt from within a fifty-meter area and bind a target. It carries a paralysis effect. 23

• Can sprout from multiple directions to restrain an opponent. 23
• More than a dozen grass vines can be generated at once. 23
• The paralysis effect is ineffective if the grass cannot touch the opponent. 24
• Qi Dao cuts the vines apart immediately with the Peerless Sword during their duel. 23

Man Faced Demon Spider Traits

Tang San's third and fourth soul rings come from Man Faced Demon Spiders. Their influence gives Blue Silver Grass purplish-black coloring, mottled markings, barbs, a foul odor, and a more potent toxin. 119 153

• Spider Web Restraint, the third soul skill, launches a purple web-like attack from Tang San's hand. 119
• Demon Spider Cage, the fourth soul skill, rises beneath a target to immobilize them. 119
• Qi Dao judges that the acquired poison does not match that of a natural poison-attribute Soul Master and that the emphasis on spider rings has come at the expense of the grass's hardness and toughness. 119

Blue Silver Emperor Bloodline

Tang San's inherited bloodline releases a warm force when Shrek's Seven-in-One Fusion Skill nearly overwhelms him. Blue Silver Grass erupts uncontrollably from his body, venting soul power and easing the strain. 118

During the attempted second awakening, golden markings briefly spread across the grass, but the transformation does not complete. It retains its purplish-black appearance with a new crystalline-blue sheen and becomes somewhat tougher; Tang San can also retract its barbs. The Blue Silver King says several future Blue Silver Grass soul rings might restore some of the depleted Blue Silver Emperor Origin, though the outcome is uncertain. 152 153

Story Role / Major Arcs

• Yu Xiaogang cites Blue Silver Grass as proof that he does not discriminate against “useless martial souls,” pledging to develop Tang San into a powerhouse. 20
• During Tang San's challenge against Qi Dao, Blue Silver Entanglement fails to restrain Qi Dao, whose sword cuts through every vine before Tang San can capitalize on the control skill. 23
• After the defeat, Yu Xiaogang assures Tang San that Blue Silver Grass may eventually surpass Qi Dao's sword through higher soul power and poison-attribute soul rings. 25
• In a later duel, Tang San uses Blue Silver Grass as a barrier against Qi Dao's Sword Qi, but the attack cuts through it. 78
• At the Soul Master Tournament, Tang San finds the grass vulnerable to Blazing Fire Academy's flames. Against Skywater Academy, its vines freeze and shatter before touching the ice crystal phoenix, leaving him doubtful that the martial soul can overcome its weaknesses. 111 112
• Shrek's Seven-in-One Fusion Skill draws out a protective response from Tang San's bloodline, but even with soul power approaching level seventy, his Blue Silver Grass attacks are shredded by Qi Dao. Tang San turns to his Clear Sky Hammer rather than concede. 118 119
