Background
Freya was raised in Loguetown by her father, Xikexin, and inherited culinary skill from both of her parents. Before learning of his past, she regarded Xikexin as an overly stubborn restaurant owner and repeatedly clashed with him over whether she had surpassed his cooking. 35 40
Her perspective changed when Xikexin revealed that he had once been a Super Food God of the Gourmet Kingdom. He explained that he left the kingdom to seek a deeper answer to cooking, eventually settling in Loguetown after reaching the North Blue and meeting Freya's mother. 40 41
Freya initially rejected Ye Mu's recruitment offer, fearing the life of a pirate. After Xikexin entrusted her future to Ye Mu and Ye Mu promised to support—not fulfill—her dream for her, she chose to join the Sky Pirates and pursue the path to the Gourmet Kingdom herself. 39 41
Personality
Freya is proud, competitive, and quick to challenge anyone who dismisses her cooking. Her initial goal in confronting her father was to prove that she had surpassed him, even though she had not yet understood his belief that cooking required more than technical ability. 35 37 41
Despite her sharp tongue and occasional jealousy toward Ye Mu, Freya is deeply caring. She protects Erza from Enel's behavior, looks after the crew through food, comforts frightened companions during war, and personally intervenes when she sees civilians being abused. 47 157 411
She initially struggled with the violence and moral ambiguity of piracy, particularly after witnessing Enel destroy pirate-hunter ships at Reverse Mountain. Over time, her experiences with the World Government, Fish-Man Island, and the crew broadened her view of the world. 49 57 157
Later, feeding thousands of people forces Freya to reconsider her old belief that every dish must pursue the finest possible taste. She becomes troubled by how much her priorities have changed, but Rouge helps her accept that change does not mean she has lost herself. 312 313 314
