History
Imperial Frontier and Zichuan Rule
The Luminous Empire prepared an eastern expedition to expand into the Far East, using Jiashan Fortress as its forward base. 1 The expedition subsequently secured the entire Far East by its tenth year, allowing Emperor Lin Huang to advance into the Demon God Kingdom and conclude a treaty recognizing the kingdom's independence under imperial vassalage. 27 The Zichuan Clan later repelled demon forces and established control over the region, but its rule over the beastmen was marked by oppression and exploitation. 93 274
Ge Yingxing built the Far East Army into the Zichuan Clan's foremost defense against the demon race. His military prestige and long service made him the faith of many Far East soldiers. 218 236
Valen Fortress also housed the Far East Military Academy, where Ge Yingxing trained future officers and officials. Di Lin, Sterling, and Zichuan Xiu were among its cadets. 44 During the preparations for the Second Battle of Eternal River, Ge Yingxing assembled 300,000 Far East troops and intended the campaign to help transfer military leadership to the younger generation. 45 Zichuan Xiu later chose to remain in the Far East with Ge Yingxing rather than pursue a prestigious appointment in the Imperial Capital, receiving command of a thousand cavalry. 56
Great Far East Rebellion
After Lei Hong's betrayal and the attack on Ge Yingxing at Yellow Stone Mountain, the Far East lost the commander whose authority had restrained its growing unrest. 87 92 Ge Yingxing survived through Lin Junyu's intervention, but his survival was concealed through a substitute body and funeral, leaving the region's soldiers and political leadership to believe him dead. 87 218 On April 11, 779, beastmen in Saro Province rose in rebellion; within a month, the uprising had spread across every Far East province as the Great Far East Rebellion. 93
The demon leadership helped instigate the uprising as part of its strategy to exploit human divisions. A mysterious intermediary persuaded Lei Hong to ally with the beastman rebels, while Imperial Adviser Black Sand reported to Demon God Emperor Kater that the rebellion was proceeding according to plan. 93
In Minsk Province, beastman troops defected during a suppression operation, contributing to the destruction of a 30,000-man Far East division and the death of its commander, Li Ke. 94 A 300,000-man Far East pacification force pursued rebel troops into Cloud Province, only for 250,000 soldiers to be lost. The remaining 50,000 retreated in disorder to Valen Fortress while united beastman rebels and Lei Hong's divisions pursued them. 94
Ge Yingxing later attributed the military collapse to Zichuan Canxing's political interference, tolerance of Lei Hong's betrayal, and disastrous orders. Luo Bo confessed responsibility for 235,000 deaths at Redwater Shoal, but Ge Yingxing argued that the commanders' obedience to their superior did not make them the principal authors of the catastrophe. 218 236
Demon Occupation and Liberation
The demon race exploited the Far East's internal collapse, eventually occupying the region with little resistance. 182 Demon forces later used Pai City and Valen Fortress as major objectives during their campaign. 128 139
As the invasion spread, Di Lin reorganized Valen Fortress's defenses, while Commander Fang Jin brought surviving reserve forces back to the fortress despite heavy losses. 137 Di Lin subsequently led 50,000 veteran light cavalry into the Far East to reach Lin Junyu and his brothers. Many of these troops were Far East natives familiar with the terrain and experienced in fighting demons. 138
At Tarlan Fortress, Lin Junyu's intervention transformed the conflict. His concealed 100,000-man Crimson Phoenix force used genetic enhancement, power armor, and psionic cultivation to overwhelm the Demon God Emperor's elite troops. 170 175 Following Lin Junyu's victory over the Demon God Emperor, demon forces submitted to him. He appointed Zichuan Xiu to govern the Far East, restore order, and resolve the beastman rebellion. 185 196
Lin Junyu subsequently assembled approximately 800,000 elite Genetic Warriors before Valen Fortress and assigned Lin Han's Frost Battle Group to assist Zichuan Xiu. 192 193 196
Reconstruction Under Zichuan Xiu
While being pursued by Kalan's army, Zichuan Xiu entered the territory of the Far East Holy Temple and sought cooperation with the beastmen rather than treating them as enemies. 189 Elder Bu Dan accepted an alliance after Zichuan Xiu pledged to pursue a different future for the region. 190
The Xiu Battalion and Holy Temple defenders subsequently routed the pursuing demon forces. After Zichuan Xiu killed the enemy commander while wearing the Nuo Mask, Bu Dan publicly proclaimed him the Light King and a divine messenger of Odi. The victory gave Zichuan Xiu a religious and political basis for uniting the Far East's half-orcs. 192
As Governor, Zichuan Xiu gained command over demon legions stationed in the Far East and sought Bu Dan's support to suppress warlords, end inter-rebel fighting, and establish a durable administration. 226 227 Bu Dan pledged the Holy Temple's allegiance after Zichuan Xiu agreed to protect the beastmen from oppression and help them rebuild their homes. 227
Beginning at Tarlan Fortress, Zichuan Xiu organized a three-army pacification campaign. Ross's Northern Army was tasked with eliminating Lei Hong's forces in the northeast; Zichuan Xiu's Central Army combined the Xiu Battalion Guard and Ludi Legion against the central beastman factions; Lin Han's Southern Army was assigned to reclaim western territory and restore order. 227
In Iliya Province, tribes submitted to Zichuan Xiu, and fighting ceased throughout the province within three days. More than 100,000 captured rebels were dispersed for mining, road construction, and labor in communities depleted by war. Those willing to enlist entered the newly established Far East Second Legion. 262
Zichuan Xiu also publicly apologized for past mistreatment of the half-orcs and pledged equal treatment. The 61,342 half-orc rebels of Minsk Province were reorganized into the Far East First Half-Orc Legion, while Ulda's division joined the Far East Expeditionary Army. 268 He was formally confirmed as Governor-General of the Far East and King of Light, with authorization to establish a government in Minsk Province. 271
Ming'an was announced as the new government's seat, and remaining rebel forces were ordered to surrender or face suppression. Zichuan Xiu accelerated military reorganization so that, after securing the Far East, his forces could support the wider campaign for human unification. Although the overall regional balance was considered settled, the Ross Legion's campaign against Lei Hong still required a progress report. 271
Under Lin Junyu's new imperial structure, Ge Yingxing's reformed Far East Army was renamed the Imperial Defense Army, with Ge Yingxing as Marshal and Lin Bing commanding its First Legion. 276 Lin Junyu later confirmed that Zichuan Xiu continued governing the entire Far East on his behalf. 302
