"My ability is that no matter what kind of warrior they are, I can help them unlock their latent energy and far surpass their original limits."
Old Kai boasted about his ability like a peddler selling his own wares. After he finished speaking, he stood there, waiting for everyone to shower him with praise.
"That sounds about the same as the Grand Elder of Namek's ability," Yamcha commented.
"Not even close! How can a Namekian compare to me? Do you even know what it means to go beyond one's original limits!?"
Old Kai was furious. He ran up to Yamcha, grabbed him by the collar with both hands, and spat while shouting excitedly.
"Is it stronger than a Super Saiyan?" Vegeta suddenly asked.
"Just because you can transform doesn't mean it's a good thing. What 'Super Saiyan'—it's nothing but a crooked path." Old Kai stretched his back, looking disgusted.
"That kind of thing puts too much strain on the body and shortens your lifespan. Obtaining great power through such methods is a violation of the laws of nature."
"And those Dragon Balls made by the Namekians—use that stuff less."
Old Kai turned serious for once, his words carrying a subtle warning.
Son Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks fell into deep thought; these words overturned everything they had known for so long.
Son Gohan had known this for a long time, which was why after reaching Super Saiyan 2, he chose to evolve into Mystic Gohan without needing to transform, rather than choosing to break through to Super Saiyan 3.
"Hey, you, come stand in front of me. Since you were able to pull out that sword, with my help, I can definitely make you the number one human in the universe."
Old Kai beckoned to Son Gohan. He was not only confident but also spoke with precision.
"I thought it was some generation of Supreme Kai who would pull the sword out. I never expected it to be a human who saved me. The world really has changed."
Old Kai looked back again, his tone tinged with a hint of resentment.
"I am... truly very sorry!" The Supreme Kai hung his head, looking like a child who had done something wrong.
"Alright, stand there and don't move around."
Old Kai hummed a strange rhythm and performed a bizarre, shuffling dance, circling around Son Gohan. It looked exceptionally ridiculous.
Everyone present watched with blank expressions. Could this really increase their strength?
"I have a feeling he's unreliable," Krillin said, scratching his bald head and lowering his voice.
"Don't talk. I am performing an important ritual," Old Kai said with a stern expression.
"Excuse me, how long will this ritual take?" Trunks was in a hurry to return to the future.
"The ritual takes five hours, and unlocking the power takes twenty hours."
"That long!" everyone exclaimed in unison.
"Then we're going to get some sleep. We've been in constant battles lately, and our nerves have been stretched thin. I'm exhausted," Yamcha said, rubbing his shoulders.
"Lord Supreme Kai, is there anything to eat?" Son Goku felt very hungry.
"Yes, please follow me." The Supreme Kai led everyone away.
Old Kai continued to perform the ritual diligently, beads of sweat appearing on his face.
Five hours later, the ritual finally ended. Old Kai plopped down on the ground, panting heavily. "You can sit down and rest now."
Son Gohan didn't feel tired, just bored. Seeing that no one was around, he revealed a mysterious smile.
"Lord Old Kai, after you finish unlocking my potential, could you help unlock the potential of the other humans who came with me?"
"You want me to unlock eight more people? Do you think I'm a donkey to be worked to death!?" Old Kai puffed out his cheeks and glared, thrusting his neck forward while sitting on the ground.
"I'll bring two beauties next time," Son Gohan said with a wink.
"Deal!"
Old Kai hammered his hand down, his eyes squinting into slits as he revealed a lecherous smile.
Different people had different potentials, and the time required for the ritual varied. Old Kai could see that the remaining people didn't have as much potential as Son Gohan.
Especially since there were four of them who wouldn't take much time at all; he felt this was a very worthwhile trade.
"Let's continue. From now on, you just need to sit quietly and focus your mind. Don't move around."
"This way, you will be able to obtain power that surpasses your limits."
Old Kai extended his hands toward Son Gohan as if casting a spell. He pulled out an old-fashioned television and began watching aerobics performed by beautiful women, letting out lecherous laughter as he watched.
This old pervert, Son Gohan thought to himself.
"You brat, who are you calling an old pervert?" Old Kai said without turning his head, drooling over the beauties on the screen.
Oh no, he forgot that Old Kai had telepathy. Son Gohan smiled awkwardly.
"Are those Launch and Android 18 you mentioned pretty? What's their figure like?" Old Kai grinned, wearing an expectant and greasy expression.
"Don't worry, in every aspect, they are absolutely world-class," Son Gohan assured him.
They were top-tier, but not guaranteed—he didn't dare think that last part, fearing Old Kai would read it.
"Very good, no time for nonsense. I need to speed it up!" Old Kai's cheeks suddenly flushed, as if his soul had been hooked by the beauties.
Twenty hours was a long time. When everyone woke up from their sleep, they found that Son Gohan's potential had not yet been fully unlocked.
"Tch, what a waste of my time!" Vegeta's eyes showed impatience.
"Don't be so anxious, Vegeta. The buns in the Sacred World of the Kai are actually quite delicious." Son Goku's mouth was stuffed with food; he had started eating again as soon as he woke up.
"Once Son Gohan's side is finished, I will unlock your potentials one by one," Old Kai offered.
"We don't even know if your ritual is useful yet," Krillin muttered.
"I'm losing out, I'm losing out. This kid's potential is too massive. I originally thought it would take 25 hours to finish everything, and now it's been nearly 30 hours."
Old Kai's tone was hurried and pained, yet his face held unconcealable surprise, as he rarely misjudged anyone.
Three hours later, Old Kai withdrew his outstretched arms, stretched his limbs, and said slowly, "Finally finished."
"He doesn't look any different," Yamcha and the others said, circling Son Gohan.
"Try it and you'll see." Son Gohan flew to an open area; he knew Old Kai would never lie.
"Ha!"
With a light shout from Son Gohan, a silvery-white aura exploded outward and shot into the sky. A powerful, majestic pressure surged like a galloping giant wave in all directions.
The entire Sacred World of the Kai was stirred by a massive ripple. A terrifying pressure, carried within the gale, filled every inch of space and refused to subside for a long time.
Fortunately, they were far enough away that Krillin and the others weren't blown into the sky, but they couldn't even open their eyes against the hurricane.
"How is this possible? Just how much power was hidden inside Gohan?" Even Son Goku's mouth hung open in shock.
"Lord Old Kai's ability is truly terrifying," Piccolo said, his face full of awe.
Son Gohan had clearly only broken through to Super Saiyan 3 two days ago, and now he was nearing the level of a Super Saiyan God.
He expressed his gratitude to Old Kai and then asked the ultimate purpose of his visit: "Lord Old Kai, do you happen to have a way to contact Lord Beerus?"
