Background

Gohan is a transmigrator who awakens in the body of four-year-old Son Goku's son during Raditz's attack on Earth. His past-life death in a hit-and-run fuels the rage that lets him escape Raditz's pod and intervene in the battle. Rather than relying on a system or external “golden finger,” he resolves to rely on his Saiyan body and become strong enough to protect Earth. 1

After Raditz's death, Gohan immediately takes a leading role in preparing for Vegeta and Nappa's arrival. He recommends that Krillin gather the other fighters to train, persuades Piccolo to join him and Goku on King Kai's Planet, and convinces Chi-Chi to allow the journey by presenting it as an educational opportunity. 2 3

On King Kai's Planet, Gohan's talent rapidly eclipses that of Goku and Piccolo. He catches Bubbles in five days and hits Gregory in six, then reaches a combat power above 100,000 through six months of training and sparring.
