Shrek Academy

Ning Rongrong attended Shrek Academy but came to resent its staff and students after Flender demeaned her and Dai Mubai threatened her. When the Shrek group was pursued through the Star Dou Great Forest, she refused to support Dai Mubai and instead used her Speed enhancement to escape with Zhu Zhuqing. 42

After Flender's death, Dai Mubai attacked Ning Rongrong for laughing at Shrek's infighting. Her uncle Zhang Muzhi intervened and severely beat him. Ning Rongrong then retaliated against Dai Mubai for his attempted assault on Zhu Zhuqing, openly denounced Yu Xiaogang's teachings, and withdrew from Shrek alongside Zhu Zhuqing. 74 75

Tang San subsequently attempted to assassinate Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing. Zhang Muzhi discovered him but was killed by Tang Hao while protecting them; Meng Chen and Ye Xishui later saved the two girls from Tang Hao. 75 76

Return to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect

Ning Rongrong returned to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect with Zhu Zhuqing and Zhao Wuji, reuniting with her father Ning Fengzhi and the sect's guardian Douluo. She recounted Meng Chen's rescue, recognizing that the sect owed him a serious debt. 86 87

After the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect publicly defended Meng Chen against Spirit Hall, Meng Chen repaid Ning Fengzhi with the Aromatic Silk Beauty. The immortal herb was stated to evolve the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. Ning Rongrong accepted it after unexpectedly kissing Meng Chen. 144 146

By the time she entered the Star Dou Great Forest with Zhu Zhuqing, she wielded the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda and used its enhancements to help Zhu Zhuqing flee the Tall-Legged Golden Fox. 168

Search for Meng Chen

Ning Rongrong noticed Zhu Zhuqing's longing for Meng Chen and proposed that they search for him in the Star Dou Great Forest. Using the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's merchant network, she had already arranged for his movements to be monitored; his last known location was the forest. 167

She and Zhu Zhuqing were nearly killed by the wounded Tall-Legged Golden Fox despite traveling with two Soul Saint guards. Meng Chen rescued them, and Ning Rongrong used his guilt over the incident to secure his help in finding Zhu Zhuqing's fourth Soul Ring. 168 169

Ning Rongrong is spirited, spoiled, and willful, but she does not tolerate humiliation or cruelty. Her resentment toward Shrek stemmed from its members' treatment of her and Zhu Zhuqing, and she chose to leave rather than continue supporting people she considered unworthy of her loyalty. 42 75

She is quick-thinking and mischievous. During the Golden Fox incident, she immediately strengthened Zhu Zhuqing for their escape; after Meng Chen admitted indirect responsibility, she turned his guilt into an opportunity for him to accompany Zhu Zhuqing. 168 169
