Background / History

Meng Chen was reincarnated into the Douluo world rather than possessing another person’s body. After awakening memories of his previous life, he recognized the world and its future figures, informing many of his choices. 1

In Xiahe Village, he awakened innate full soul power and the lightning-attributed plant martial soul Thunder Hell Vine. He declined Su Yuntao’s recruitment offer from Spirit Hall, instead accepting a work-study placement at Notting Academy arranged by the village chief. 1 2

Before leaving for Notting Academy, Meng Chen awakened his second martial soul: the Atlas Spear, a powerful assault-type tool martial soul. At Notting, he avoided the work-study dormitory by paying for a four-person room and soon encountered Yu Xiaogang and Tang San. 2

His assigned guardian, the Death God Douluo Ye Xishui, revealed herself shortly after his arrival. Meng Chen later treated her as both a guardian and teacher, receiving protection, cultivation methods, and assistance in obtaining resources. 3 13
