Yu Tianheng is a direct descendant of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect and one of its potential future heirs. His grandfather, sect leader Yu Yuanzhen, considers him a prodigy capable of eventually reaching Titled Douluo. 34

At Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, Yu Tianheng is Qin Ming's strongest student. Although he is six or seven years older than Meng Chen and Xiao Wu, he reaches rank 38 only shortly before their enrollment, placing him one level below their rank 39 cultivation. 20

He initially views Meng Chen as a challenger to test rather than an opponent to avoid. Learning of Meng Chen's exceptional cultivation and ring configuration strengthens his resolve to assess the newcomer personally. 21

Yu Tianheng is the nephew of Yu Xiaogang. His loss damages his pride but does not break his fighting spirit. He pays the agreed wager, resolves to improve, and later openly announces that he will challenge Meng Chen again after becoming a Soul Ancestor. 33 48

First Battle with Meng Chen

Yu Tianheng challenges Meng Chen to a Soul Fighting Arena match, wagering 100,000 gold soul coins. Confident in the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon's resistance to lightning and superiority over plant martial souls, he treats Meng Chen's Thunder Hell Vine as an unfavorable but manageable matchup. 30 31

The battle proves the opposite. His Thunder Dragon Claw cannot breach Meng Chen's vine defense, while Thunderous Fury only gives the Thunder Hell Vine more lightning power to consume. Bound and drained until his Martial Soul Possession dissipates, Yu Tianheng loses without landing a hit and collapses in under half a minute. 31 32

Payment and Resolve

Unable to pay the wager in coin immediately, Yu Tianheng offers a Purple Extremity Thunder Crystal—also called a Thunder Radiance Crystal—as equivalent payment. Though humiliated, he vows that he will win the next encounter. 33

The defeat reaches the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect, where Yu Yuanzhen recognizes Meng Chen's Thunder Hell Vine as a historic taboo and natural nemesis of lightning-attributed martial souls. Yu Yuanzhen concludes that Yu Tianheng's loss was not undeserved. 34

Continued Rematches

After Meng Chen returns as a Soul Ancestor, Yu Tianheng does not avoid him or hold a grudge over the first battle. Instead, he declares that he will challenge Meng Chen again once he reaches Soul Ancestor, believing the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon's true strength extends beyond lightning. 48

Yu Tianheng invites Meng Chen and Ye Xishui to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect for a banquet, reflecting the shift from hostility to friendship and mutual political cooperation between Meng Chen and the sect. 87

When Meng Chen seeks a suitable fifth soul ring, Yu Tianheng offers to ask Yu Yuanzhen about the Thunder Hell Vine within the sect's forbidden ground. His assistance leads to Meng Chen's journey into Ten Thousand Thunder Valley and eventual absorption of the Thunder Hell Vine's soul ring. 94 99

Yu Xiaogang's Return

Yu Tianheng is shocked to encounter his formerly dignified uncle in a disheveled state. When Yu Xiaogang attempts to condemn Meng Chen and Qin Ming's influence, Yu Tianheng defends Meng Chen as a good friend from whom he has learned much through actual combat. 70 71

Yu Yuanzhen later severs Yu Xiaogang's relationship with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect and instructs Yu Tianheng to no longer recognize him as an uncle, marking the final formal break in their clan relationship. 88

Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament

Yu Tianheng competes as a member of the Heaven Dou Royal Academy team during the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. The team reaches the finals against Spirit Hall, with Yu Tianheng serving alongside Meng Chen and Xiao Wu as one of Heaven Dou's principal combatants. 137 138

Before the final battle, Meng Chen orders Yu Tianheng and the rest of the team to leave the arena so that he can confront the entire Spirit Hall team alone. Although Yu Tianheng is initially reluctant, he follows the order after Xiao Wu does so, trusting Meng Chen's judgment. 142

Meng Chen reveals a six-ring configuration and defeats all seven Spirit Hall opponents, including Hu Liena and Xie Yue's Martial Soul Fusion Skill.
