Background

Odyn was personally created by Aman'Thul and received a portion of the Father of All's power. Though Ra was more favored by Aman'Thul, Odyn earned the position of chief Keeper through his achievements and battlefield leadership during the war against the Black Empire. His battle with Ragnaros left his beard permanently aflame, and he ultimately helped seal the Firelord away. 341 343

Odyn opposed Tyr's proposal to empower the Dragonflights. After the other Keepers approved it, he abandoned Ulduar for Stormheim and established the Hall of Valor as an independent force for protecting Azeroth. His resentment toward dragons persisted for tens of thousands of years. 337

Helya assisted Odyn in raising the Hall of Valor, but their conflict over the Val'kyr led to her rebellion. With Yogg-Saron and Loken's aid, Helya left the Hall suspended in the sky and unable to land safely, effectively confining Odyn to it while he conserved power. 345

Odyn is a colossal Titan-forged being, standing over seventy meters tall. His body is metallic, originally gold and silver in color; after Azeroth restored his energy, it became pure platinum and radiated visible waves of power. 343 345

Odyn is proud, belligerent, and intensely sensitive to perceived disrespect. His Hall of Valor is arranged as an immense dueling arena, and his anger can shake the entire structure and overwhelm even his strongest followers. 340 341

He is also a born commander with sharp combat instincts and strategic judgment. Unlike Tyr, who exhausted himself through constant intervention, Odyn conserved his strength and built an army in Stormheim over tens of thousands of years. 344 402

Despite his arrogance, Odyn can act pragmatically when confronted with an undeniable superior power. After Orendo manifested as Azeroth's proxy, Odyn submitted rather than risk losing the Hall of Valor. Once recharged, he accepted Azeroth's will as the foundation of his duty and sought to address his guilt over Helya. 343 345

Stormheim Encounter

Odyn first monitors Orendo's arrival in Stormheim through a one-eyed raven, then approaches him through Havi's disguised Vrykul form. The two share food, drink, and stories, although Orendo recognizes that Havi is only an avatar of the Hall of Valor's master. 152

Hall of Valor Confrontation

After four blue dragons disappear in Stormheim, Orendo confronts Odyn at the Hall of Valor. Odyn responds by sending Heimdall and Helya against him, but both are defeated. Their dispute escalates into a direct battle in Odyn's hunting grounds. 338 339 341

Odyn withstands most of Orendo's ordinary attacks, but yields when Orendo manifests a Titan-sized avatar empowered by Azeroth. Orendo then restores Odyn's depleted energy and secures his allegiance to Azeroth's protection. 343 345

War in Helheim

With enough energy to maintain the Hall of Valor while fighting on the ground, Odyn gathers the Vrykul tribes and invades Helheim. Fully powered and supported by his accumulated forces, he defeats Helya within roughly five days; Helya is wounded and retreats into the Shadowlands. 347 349

Return to Ulduar

Odyn moves the Hall of Valor to Northrend, plans to unite the Vrykul under the Alliance, and returns to Ulduar with Archaedas. There, he confronts Loken and the Keepers under Yogg-Saron's influence, swiftly subduing Thorim, Hodir, and Freya before Loken is defeated. 393 400 402 404

Assault on Yogg-Saron

Odyn accompanies Orendo and the other Keepers into Yogg-Saron's prison. Through Orendo's domain, he is linked with six Guardians and eighteen Naaru, receiving a shared power boost that changes his initial doubts into full support for the operation. 405 406 407
