Background

Beerus is Universe 7's God of Destruction and is regarded as one of the strongest among the twelve Gods of Destruction. Whis trained him to this position over an immense span of time, but Beerus eventually became notorious for spending tens of thousands of years sleeping and eating rather than fulfilling his duties. 11

The arrival of Ōten, the Divine Realm's Inspector, exposes Beerus's negligence. Beerus is frightened enough by the inspection to formally welcome Ōten and comply with his decisions, even when ordered to permit dangerous sparring matches or take action against threats. 12 27 74

Personality

Beerus is proud, quick-tempered, and easily provoked. He reacts aggressively to interruptions, mockery, and perceived disrespect, especially from rivals such as Champa and Helles. 11 21 45

Despite his arrogance, Beerus is highly conscious of divine hierarchy. He becomes anxious around Ōten and Zeno, carefully moderates his behavior before them, and fears the consequences of angering higher authorities. 11 42 75

His indolence contrasts with his competitive nature. Being challenged by Ōten, Helles, and other powerful fighters motivates him to train seriously and push Ultra Instinct beyond its prior limits. 20 46 58 64
