Background / History

When Ōten first arrives on Earth, Goku is training with Vegeta under Whis in the Destruction God's Realm 4. After hearing that Ōten helped repel Frieza, Goku thanks him and immediately requests a sparring match. He challenges the Inspector with Super Saiyan Blue and Tenfold Kaioken, but Ōten steadily gains the advantage 12 14.

Goku lives with Chi-Chi and Goten. When an illness leaves him unable to eat normally and temporarily unable to fly, Chi-Chi becomes convinced that he may be dying; Goku remains characteristically unconcerned 50. He later travels with Whis and Shin to Zeno's Palace, where Old Kai repeatedly warns him to mind his manners 76.

During the conflict with Black Goku, he is initially overwhelmed by his opponent's growing power but continues adapting in battle 71. He later helps identify the Time Ring connected to Black Goku's escape, learning that it can only be used by Supreme Kais 72. In the future timeline, he confronts Black Goku in Super Saiyan Blue and recognizes his enemy's imitation of the Kamehameha 79.

Goku mentors Caulifla during the Tournament of Power, teaching her the weaknesses of her transformation and directing her toward Super Saiyan 2 138 139. He is straightforward and often socially careless, requiring repeated reminders to behave formally around gods and Supreme Kais 73 76. Despite this, he shows humility toward King Sadala, declining a grand welcome and asking the king to stand rather than treat him ceremonially 268.

Goku is deeply protective of others. He accepts the burden of Universe 2's God of Destruction position, gathers energy from allies for the Spirit Bomb rather than surrender to Jiren, and intervenes to save Vegeta from a lethal attack 155 264 507.
