History

Nine-Tails Incident and Uchiha Defection

During the Nine-Tails attack, Leaf shinobi attempted to contain the beast but were heavily outmatched, while Hiruzen Sarutobi delayed his arrival at the main battlefield. 1 After Uchiha Yoru saved the weakened Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, Hiruzen ordered Anbu to surround and seize both Yoru and Naruto. 3 4

Yoru later overheard Hiruzen and Danzō discussing a plan to blame the Uchiha Clan for the Nine-Tails incident, strip the clan of power, and potentially purge it. 5 Root subsequently confronted Yoru at the Uchiha compound, where he publicly accused the village leadership of persecuting Sakumo Hatake and turning on Minato's family after their survival. 7
