Background / History

Tsunade meets Xuanhui while spending time by a river with her younger brother, Senju Nawaki. She has recently taught Nawaki a new ninjutsu and watches over his spar with Xuanhui, warning both boys not to get hurt. After Nawaki loses badly, she remains concerned for him despite teasing and physically reprimanding him herself. 8

She dislikes using a surname, despite others calling her “Princess Tsunade.” After learning that Xuanhui is interested in medicine, she accepts several medical texts from his library, including Modern Medicine and Compendium of Materia Medica. 9

Before departing for the war, Tsunade reunites with Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Hiruzen Sarutobi for a gathering. She is initially suspicious of Jiraiya's late-night visit but agrees once she learns its purpose. 26
