Background / History

Childhood and First Training

The Third Kazekage adopted Pakura when she was little and raised her as his daughter. During Xuanhui’s visit to Sunagakure, he asks the visiting boy to teach her taijutsu and Fire Release. Pakura initially approaches Xuanhui with curiosity, although Orochimaru and Kakuzu’s intimidating presence makes her uneasy 94 124.

Pakura later recalls that nobody her age in Sunagakure could defeat her. Xuanhui nevertheless counters her weapon feints and repeatedly throws her during their sparring session. Afterward, he treats her injured knee and encourages her to judge progress against her past self, rather than against others, and to seek strength to protect people she cares about. She watches him leave and resolves to become as strong as him 95 148.

Third Shinobi World War

During Kumogakure’s invasion, Pakura devastates enemy troops with Scorch Release while Rasa covers her retreat from the Third Raikage. The Raikage later disguises his approach toward her as an attack on Rasa. Xuanhui recognizes the feint and rescues Pakura from the impending Two-Finger Nukite, then instructs her to keep his intervention secret. Her return to battle raises the Sand forces’ morale 113 114.

Pakura subsequently argues that Sunagakure must honor its alliance with Konoha by supplying requested aid. She is appointed field commander under Chiyo and Ebizo on the Kirigakure front, where few Mist shinobi can withstand her Scorch Release 126 129.

After the Sand forces withdraw for peace negotiations, Pakura travels to the Konoha–Iwagakure front to thank Xuanhui. Their private meeting becomes an evening in Konoha. He warns her about Sunagakure’s hardliners and suspicious missions, secretly placing an Eight Crossroads mark on her wrist 141 142.

Betrayal and Refuge in Konoha

Kirigakure demands Pakura’s life as the price of a ceasefire. Although Rasa objects, a majority of Sunagakure’s senior officials approves the agreement. Pakura is then sent to the Mist as a supposed peace ambassador 143 144.

Suspicious of the mission, she sends a clone ahead while following with her real body. Mist shinobi attack the clone and reveal that her death is the agreed price of peace. They discover and surround her real body; she kills one attacker before Xuanhui intervenes and eliminates the remaining force 144 146.

Pakura breaks down over her village’s betrayal and vows to train for revenge. Xuanhui offers her a place as his laboratory assistant, explicitly rejecting her wish to become his servant: she is a work partner whose life belongs to herself. Sunagakure brands her a missing-nin, while the Third Kazekage punishes the responsible officials and quietly prepares a faction to support her eventual return 145 146.

Xuanhui and Orochimaru take responsibility for her stay in Konoha through an application to Hiruzen. Pakura begins living and training with Xuanhui, and his parents welcome her into the family. She privately tells them that admiration for his strength and gratitude for his protection have become love 148 154 155.

Revenge and Clearance

Two years into Minato’s term as Hokage, Pakura decides she is ready to return to Sunagakure. Xuanhui gives her a signed list of the officials who approved her sacrifice, but she insists that the revenge is her own battle 176.

Pakura confronts Rasa outside the village while a clone kills the listed officials inside the Kazekage Building. Her expanded Scorch Release arsenal repeatedly melts his defenses. The Third Kazekage supports her actions and reveals that replacements for the dead officials are already prepared 176 177 178.

She defeats Rasa but spares him because he voted against her betrayal. Pakura nevertheless holds him responsible for implementing the decision and branding her a missing-nin, warning him against allowing another village hero to die suspiciously 178.

With her missing-nin status revoked, Pakura chooses Konoha over remaining in Sunagakure. She openly confesses her love to Xuanhui, accepts his invitation to a proper date, and later shares a renovated home and expanded laboratory with him 179 183.

Research and Later Warfare

Pakura develops an independent research path aimed at bypassing chakra absorption. Inspired by Magnet Release and puppetry, she distinguishes chakra techniques from physical matter and changes caused by chakra. She pursues extreme heat as a means of attacking without leaving absorbable chakra in the projectile 219.

Tobirama recognizes the value of her research and shares technical guidance alongside Xuanhui. Her subsequent air cannon demonstrates enough heat to soften Susanoo, leading Xuanhui to judge that she could threaten a Six Paths-level opponent, though not fight one directly 244 249 250.

During the Allied Shinobi Forces’ war, Pakura accompanies Xuanhui, Mei Terumi, and Nawaki to the desert front. She helps destroy falling meteorite debris with Solar Storm and later manifests Karmic Flame Mystic Sword near the God Tree 303 304 312 328.

Appearance

Pakura is described as a tall, poised beauty with a cool demeanor and her hair arranged in a bun 141.

  • Hair: Favors a small, round bun, with loose strands around her face 153 176 180.
  • Complexion: Has smooth skin despite Sunagakure’s wind and sand; her complexion becomes noticeably rosier while living with Xuanhui 142 178.
  • Build: Has a slender waist, defined abdominal muscles, and long, shapely legs 187.
  • Clothing: Wears an off-the-shoulder coffee-colored sweater with a white maxi skirt after settling in Konoha. For a later date, she chooses a fitted backless top and another long white skirt 152 180.
  • Aging: Hashirama cells preserve her youthful appearance over several years 206.

Personality

Pakura is proud, resilient, and hardworking. As a child, she keeps fighting Xuanhui after realizing how badly she is outmatched. Following her betrayal, she channels her anger into sustained training and insists on confronting the people responsible herself 95 146 176.

Her loyalty to Sunagakure is rooted in affection for the land and the people who raised her, not unconditional obedience to its leaders. Even after choosing Konoha, she still loves her homeland and wants its children protected from the political darkness she experienced. Her decision to spare Rasa shows that her revenge distinguishes between those who supported her sacrifice and those who opposed it 143 178 193 249.

Her battlefield aloofness contrasts with her shyness around Xuanhui. She initially struggles to express gratitude or romantic interest and worries about being a burden. Their relationship later brings out a playful, openly affectionate side, although jealousy and fear of losing her place beside him sometimes remain 114 141 153 170 188 288.

Pakura also becomes an inventive researcher. Rather than relying solely on familiar Scorch Release fireballs, she studies alternative forms of the technique and develops her own reasoning about how physical heat might counter ninjutsu absorption 155 219.

Abilities & Skills

Scorch Release

A Fire–Wind kekkei genkai that Pakura initially uses as malleable, intensely hot chakra. Its earliest documented battlefield application evaporates all moisture from a victim’s body on brief contact 113 114 155.

  • Extremely Steaming Murder: Creates four fireballs; three orbit her defensively while she directs the fourth through enemy formations 113.
  • Solar Storm: Produces crimson, flame-laced tornadoes for offense, area control, or protection. Desert winds strengthen them; they melt Rasa’s gold dust and later meteorite fragments 176 178 312.
  • Blazing Saw Blade: Coats two spinning shuriken in Scorch Release and directs them after airborne targets 177.
  • Flying Dragon Fireblast: Sends a dragon-shaped attack into the air, melting the gold-dust platform beneath Rasa 177.
  • Searing Airflow: Compresses a tornado into a tall pillar of fire, allowing her to emerge from its top near an airborne opponent 178.
  • Frenzied Wave: Expels several blasts of compressed, scorching air from her mouth 178.
  • Karmic Flame Mystic Sword: Forms a crimson flame sword exceeding thirty meters in length 328.

Applications and limits:

  • Her heat melts gold dust, preventing Rasa’s barriers and restraints from functioning normally 176 177.
  • Her early fireballs are fast enough to evade directed Water Release attacks, even when those attacks impede Pakura herself. Her later Solar Storm evaporates Kakuzu’s Water Dragon Bullet in the rain 113 187.
  • Storms and heated shuriken can sustain themselves on wind without continuous chakra expenditure, but directing the shuriken still consumes chakra 177.
  • Her strongest techniques are unsuitable for demonstrations inside a populated village because of their heat and potential to cause panic 237.

Scorch Release Chakra Coating and Mode

Pakura learns to apply Scorch Release directly to weapons and body parts, developing beyond the conventional fireball form 170 176.

  • Coated fists bypass much of Rasa’s defense by melting his gold dust on contact 176.
  • A coated golden whip burns and blisters Rasa’s skin 177.
  • Scorch Release Chakra Mode radiates heat from her entire body, scorching Obito’s mask during his approach 196.
  • Scorch Release chakra does not increase her speed; Xuanhui advises concentrating it only where needed during combat 176.

Rainbow Heat Wave and Anti-Absorption Research

Pakura’s research separates chakra-generated techniques from their physical consequences. She reasons that an opponent capable of absorbing chakra should not necessarily be able to absorb ordinary matter or temperature changes caused by chakra 219.

  • Rainbow Heat Wave superheats and compresses air before firing it as an air cannon 249 250.
  • The launched projectile contains no chakra, making it an intended counter to ninjutsu absorption 250.
  • Its impact melts a distant patch of desert sand; even its backwash forces Xuanhui to shield himself with Susanoo 249.
  • Its heat slightly softens first-stage Susanoo. Xuanhui considers it a potential threat to a Six Paths-level enemy, not proof that Pakura can face one directly 250.
  • The supplied passages do not show an absorption-capable opponent attempting to absorb this attack.

Taijutsu, Weapons, and Deception

Pakura combines physical attacks with weapon manipulation and clones rather than relying exclusively on ranged ninjutsu.

  • As a child, coordinates shuriken and kunai throws with a concealed punch 95.
  • Receives a Wing Chun manual and defensive training material from Xuanhui 146.
  • Exploits Rasa’s lack of speed through close-range strikes while her heat counters his defenses 176 178.
  • Uses a clone to investigate the suspicious peace mission and another to kill officials while her real body fights Rasa 144 178.
  • Participates in a staged confrontation with Kakuzu to conceal Xuanhui’s connections to Amegakure 187 188.

Biological Enhancement and Collaborative Research

  • Hashirama cells: Preserve her appearance over the years; Hashirama personally senses his power within her 206 216.
  • Enhanced-cell demonstration: Uses a large Scorch Release fireball to demonstrate the benefits of Xuanhui’s experimental cell technology 237.
  • Scorch–Light Release combination: Provides fireballs that Xuanhui augments with Light Release, increasing their brightness and energy while conserving chakra 145 181.
  • Research collaboration: Discusses her heat-based experiments with Xuanhui and Tobirama, who connect her approach to the physical attacks used by Magnet Release and puppetry 244.
