Background / History

The Divine Realm was created by the Creation God as a world of exceptionally pure energy. Entry originally required one’s power to reach a purity comparable to the fundamental elements of heaven and earth, together with deepening comprehension of the Great Dao. After creation, the Creation God transformed into five seeds—Goodness, Evil, Life, Destruction, and Shura—which eventually developed intelligence and became the realm’s Five Supreme Gods. Life and Goodness formed its foundation, Destruction and Evil its opposing aspect, while Shura’s slaughter established its order. 161

Over countless years, the Divine Realm annexed weaker divine realms and expanded into a major universal power. It governed 108 worlds and possessed eighteen First-Class Main Gods, while its territory continued to grow. 161 252

During the War of the Divine Beasts, the realm’s gods defeated the Dragon God and the divine beasts. The Golden Dragon King was imprisoned in the Forbidden Land of Gods, while the gods altered Douluo Continent’s Plane Will and core laws to restrict the growth of soul beasts and prevent beasts from becoming future divine threats. 224

Lower-World System

The Divine Realm provides security to the lower worlds under its jurisdiction. In exchange, it absorbs their power of belief to stabilize, develop, and expand itself. 161

Its divine positions eventually became full, meaning that new gods could only inherit a position when an existing god retired. This restricted the path to godhood for exceptional lower-world cultivators whose advancement had reached the human limit. 257 303

Gods are subject to strict regulations: they cannot descend to lower realms or interfere in their development without cause. The Angel God was threatened with confinement in the Forbidden Land of Gods after secretly transmitting divine power to Qian Daoliu. 184 250

Divine Intervention on Douluo Continent

When a God Level clash on Douluo Continent reached the offensive level of a Second-level Deity, Asura God detected the fluctuation and personally investigated. He stopped the Angel God from secretly aiding Qian Daoliu, then discovered traces of divine power that did not belong to the Divine Realm’s system. 184 186

The investigation made the realm wary that another Divine Realm had taken interest in Douluo Continent, a world already associated with the Dragon God’s lingering influence. 186

Ghost Gate Crisis

Ghost Gate’s approach forced the Divine Realm to convene its First-level Deities. Most were mobilized to confront the forbidden land, while the Elemental Gods and Original Sin Gods remained behind to preserve the realm’s stability; Sea God and God of the Underworld were assigned to patrol subordinate continents. 252

The crisis escalated through the Angel God’s betrayal and alliance with Ghost Gate. The God Summoning Drum sounded for the third time in the realm’s history, while Ghost Gate attacks spread across continents under Divine Realm protection. 279 304

The Divine Realm’s shortage of available deities led it to seek outside assistance from Yang Dong, first through recruitment and later through requests for cooperation against Ghost Gate. 303 304 343

Collapse, Reappearance, and Reform

During the Cosmic Calamity, the Divine Realm was reported to have collapsed after the Five Supreme Gods were defeated and forced to flee. 373 378

Afterward, the Divine Realm reappeared alongside the expanding Heavenly Court. Within twenty years, both powers reclaimed nearly all starfields from the Demon Cave’s forces. 413

Asura God acknowledged that the old system of extracting power from subordinate planes had become unsustainable. He proposed a new order in which the Divine Realm would genuinely protect its affiliated planes rather than drain them, and the Five Supreme Gods agreed that the realm had to change. 399 401 402
