History
Leafeon was born prematurely when poachers dropped its Eevee Egg during Officer Jenny Li's pursuit. Jenny rescued the newborn and brought it to a Pokémon Center, where examinations revealed an unprecedented Ability and an unidentified condition. 60 61
As an Eevee, its mutated Ability prevented it from learning even ordinary moves such as Tackle or Growl. Professor Zhang Shuling took it to Huaxia Academy for protection and research, eventually confirming that the Ability was responsible for its inability to learn moves. 61 63 Despite this, Eevee learned human writing, read fantasy novels and manga, and independently pursued martial-arts-based training for its sole move, Leaf Blade. 63 64
Ye Lan first inspected Eevee's data and found that it knew only Leaf Blade despite reaching Peak Beginner rank. He later proposed evolving it into Leafeon as a possible way to change its condition. 56 68 The evolution experiment ultimately preserved Eevee's mutated Adaptability through Zhang Shuling's custom capsule, but left Leafeon with only Leaf Blade and a comparatively small rank increase. The massive Grass-type energy expenditure also depleted the Gym's surrounding forest. 84 85
By the time of Ye Lan's later journeys, Leafeon had joined his team. It developed Leaf Blade into specialized forms, became the team's primary reader of move manuals, and helped operate the Candy Shop alongside Oh-no Amoonguss. 189 194 242 258
Appearance
Leafeon resembles a small cat-fox Pokémon with a light-brown body. Its ears and tail are shaped like green leaves. 85
- Light-brown furred body. 85
- Green leaf-like ears and tail. 85
- Often rides on Ye Lan's shoulder. 170 191
- Its special Dark Form Leaf Blades produce black smoke-like visual effects. 170 171
Personality
Leafeon is determined, imaginative, and deeply invested in fantasy-novel ideals. It views itself as a protagonist pursuing “Royal Swordsmanship,” often adopting an aloof “sword immortal” pose after attacks. 64 191 193
It is highly intelligent in practical matters: it reads and categorizes move manuals, teaches teammates their principles, manages Candy Shop earnings, and handles financial planning. However, Ye Lan notes that mentions of “protagonists” and “sword immortals” make it unusually easy to motivate. 189 242 258 438
Leafeon also has a mischievous streak. It runs an online account, secretly keeps a “ledger” tracking Serperior's jealousy toward Pokémon tribes, and once encouraged Ye Lan to challenge Zhang Pengfei. 158 408 443
Abilities & Skills
Mutated Adaptability
Leafeon's Ability remained unchanged after evolution because of Zhang Shuling's Ability Retention Capsule. Its mutation was originally associated with Eevee's inability to learn conventional moves. 63 85
- Preserved through the evolution experiment rather than changing into a standard Leafeon Ability. 84 85
- Allows Leaf Blade to adapt to high-level energies while retaining its Grass typing. 171 173
- Does not grant it a conventional broad movepool; Leaf Blade remains its only documented move. 85 189
Leaf Blade
Leaf Blade is Leafeon's sole foundational move and the basis of its “Royal Swordsmanship.” It trained the move obsessively even before evolving, eventually creating techniques outside ordinary move-learning conventions. 56 64
- Can form detached blade constructs rather than relying solely on its tail. 173 193
- Can control special blades remotely and emerge at the location of a previously embedded blade. 173 193
- Leafeon's standard Leaf Blades can be produced by its tail without special traits. 193
- It can control only two special detached Leaf Blades at once. 193
- Each special blade can carry only one attribute at a time. 193
Dark Form
Dark Form arose after Leafeon adapted to effects associated with Marshadow's power. Its blade gains a black-edged, smoke-like appearance. 170 171
- Can lock onto shadows and launch a blade from an opponent's shadow. 173
- Can pass through a target's body when combined with Leafeon's Penetrating Force technique. 173
- Is ineffective against Ghost-type Pokémon. 173
- Was used alongside Water Form against Huang Ba's Flareon. 192 193
Water Form
Water Form was developed by repeatedly soaking in Healing Water, which Leafeon adapted to rather than significantly absorbed. 189
- Produces a watery-blue Leaf Blade effect. 189 192
- Can be fielded alongside Dark Form, subject to the two-special-blade limit. 192 193
- Its effects were considered less pronounced than Dark Form's, and Ye Lan believed stronger Water-type assistance could improve it. 189
Literacy, Speech, and Tactical Study
Leafeon learned human language and writing during its time with Zhang Shuling, then later surprised others by speaking directly. 63 201
- Reads fantasy novels, manga, battle recordings, and Grass-type secret manuals. 63 145 189
- Studies opposing move principles so it can use Leaf Blade variations to counter them. 189 242
- Guides teammates such as Oh-no Amoonguss in move selection and training. 242
- Uses phones, SuperChat, and online platforms; its account is named “It Really Is Eevee.” 145 158
Equipment
- Smartphone — used for SuperChat, posting content, watching shows, and managing Candy Shop matters. 145 158 258
- Eye-protection laptop — gifted by Ye Lan for reading novels and viewing holographic projections. 389
- Personal ledger notebook — records Ye Lan's encounters and Serperior's “hatred value” toward various Grass-type Pokémon tribes. 408
Relationships
- Ye Lan — Trainer and close companion. Ye Lan recognized Leafeon's potential, encourages its “Sword Immortal” ambitions, and relies on its judgment for training and gifts. 90 189 389 436
- Su Muqing — caretaker and researcher during Leafeon's Eevee years; Leafeon becomes upset when Su Muqing enters obsessive research mode. 78 85 152
- Professor Zhang Shuling — researcher who safeguarded Eevee, investigated its mutated Ability, and created the Ability Retention Capsule used in its evolution. 61 63 84 85
- Officer Jenny Li — rescuer who saved Leafeon as a prematurely born Eevee, cared for it at the Pokémon Center, and taught it basic combat concepts. 60 61
- Serperior — teammate regarded by Leafeon as the team’s true “main protagonist.” Serperior is protective but frequently punishes Leafeon's schemes. 191 291 408
- Whimsicott — friend, online contact, and frequent target of Leafeon's tactics; the two share anime and internet culture. 145 193
- Oh-no Amoonguss — Candy Shop partner who follows Leafeon's instructions and trusts its judgment. 228 258
- Marshadow — the source of the power that contributed to Dark Form. 84 170 173
- Huang Ba — cotton-candy vendor and Gym Leader who remembered Leafeon from its Eevee days; his Flareon became Leafeon's first major opponent. 191 192
