Chen Xinjie leads the War God Hall and initially learns of Yun Feng through Guan Yue, who reports that her twin dragon-spear martial souls can devour life energy and Soul Power. Recognizing the potential strategic value of this ability, Chen proposes testing it against abyssal creatures at the Blood God Legion, despite Guan Yue's concern that Yun Feng is too young for such danger 5.

He personally escorts Yun Feng to the Blood God Legion, promises to keep her safe, and explains the history of the Abyssal Passage and humanity's long war against the Abyss. Yun Feng's suggestion that the planar connection may have been deliberately caused unsettles him 6.

When no captured abyssal creatures are available, Chen enters the Abyssal Passage alone, captures several creatures, and retreats after encountering the Black Emperor.
