Background
Osivia is a Soviet witch who identifies herself more specifically as Ukrainian. At eighteen, she had recently graduated from Slytherin when she met Hoffa Bach at Twin-Horn Cape after receiving a letter from Headmaster Armando Dippet. Her initial assignment involved a confidential mission in Morocco, while Dippet had also tasked her with protecting Hoffa. 70 71 80 113
Her underlying objective was to locate keys to the Forbidden Arts Library. Sylby’s claim to possess one of the three keys drew her into escorting him across Spain, despite her distrust of him and his constant provocations. 80 81 89
Osivia’s pursuit of the library was intertwined with revenge. A mysterious man had shot her brother and father, and she initially believed Dippet to be the Half-Human King responsible for the wider conspiracy. This belief drove her to attack Dippet and duel Hoffa beneath the Hogwarts hospital. 119 120 121
After the truth about Sylby and the Forbidden Arts Library emerged, Osivia apologized to Hoffa for her past conduct and abandoned revenge as her central purpose. She later returned to the Soviet Union to assist her father. 124 134
Years later, following Headmaster Urigin’s death during the Sleeping Plague, Durmstrang asked Osivia to lead the school. She accepted as acting headmistress while pursuing her own hunting plans. 403
Appearance
Osivia is a tall, strikingly pale woman with a high nose bridge and deep green eyes. Her appearance is consistently severe and meticulously arranged, matching her controlled demeanor. 70 95
- Usually wears dark green or purple wizarding robes with high black leather boots. 71 95
- Keeps her hair in a tightly pinned bun secured by several hairpins; later wears it loosely coiled to one side. 70 134
- Wears a green snake necklace that can unravel into numerous snakes. 79
- Her serpent transformations can enlarge her into a giant snake or a half-human, half-serpent form. 77 91
- In combat, she can transform much of her body into living metal. 121
Personality
Osivia is initially icy, austere, and intensely private. She speaks little outside subjects she considers important, approaches assignments with absolute seriousness, and treats safety rules as obligations rather than suggestions. Her protectiveness toward Hoffa initially manifests as controlling behavior, including attempts to confine him to a hotel rather than let him take dangerous work. 71 74 80
She is practical, disciplined, and highly self-reliant. During the journey through Spain, she leads the group through hostile territory, gathers food and medicinal plants, treats Sylby’s illness, and remains focused on reaching Barcelona despite repeated attacks. 86 89
Osivia also possesses a violent temper and a capacity for ruthless force. Her obsession with revenge causes her to lose control in Barcelona and later attack Dippet before the evidence can be properly examined. Her defeat by Hoffa and the revelation of Sylby’s deception force her to confront this fixation. 91 120 121 134
By her later time at Durmstrang, she has become more openly affectionate toward Hoffa while retaining her strictness and sense of duty. She views her political engagement to Vladimir as a family responsibility rather than a romantic choice, but admits that she misses the simpler days she and Hoffa spent travelling together. 402 404

Story Role / Major Arcs
Morocco and Spain
Osivia meets Hoffa while carrying out Dippet’s confidential Moroccan mission. Her insistence on protecting him conflicts with his need to earn money, prompting him to flee with Sylby. She pursues them through Casablanca with Transfiguration and serpent magic before joining their journey once Sylby reveals his connection to a library key. 71 77 80
As assassins pursue the group through Spain, Osivia becomes both guide and defender. In Barcelona, an encounter with a suited assassin destabilizes her; at Sants Station, she is found in a blood-soaked half-serpent form demanding Sylby’s key. 89 90 91
Hogwarts Professor and Library Search
Osivia becomes Hogwarts’s new Transfiguration professor and asks Hoffa to serve as her teaching assistant. He initially refuses because he distrusts her motives and believes she is driven by revenge. 95 100 101
The pair ultimately form an uneasy alliance to investigate the intruder connected to the Forbidden Arts Library. Osivia pushes Hoffa through the Mirror World’s trials, guides his development in Human Transfiguration, and helps uncover the White Stone Tomb clue. 104 106 108
Revenge, Reconciliation, and Sylby’s Betrayal
Osivia’s belief that Dippet is the Half-Human King leads her to attack him beneath the school hospital. Hoffa intervenes, and their duel ends with both badly injured. 120 121
Afterward, Osivia and Hoffa discover the hidden library beneath the Black Lake and confront Sylby. Sylby captures and tortures Osivia to force Hoffa into opening the Hogwarts Orb, but she survives and later rejects Sylby’s attempts to rule her through anger and vengeance. 124 126 130
Departure and Durmstrang
Having completed her original mission and found a purpose beyond revenge, Osivia leaves Hogwarts for the Soviet Union. She offers Hoffa a temporary Moscow residence permit and invites him to stay with her, though he declines. 134
Five years later, Hoffa reunites with Osivia as acting Headmistress of Durmstrang. She rescues him from the school’s hunting trap, introduces him to the Living Spirit beneath the castle, and later leads Durmstrang forces in battle against the Squib army. 402 404 414
