Background / History
Bai He was the chief of the Speed Clan, one of the four single-attribute clans formerly affiliated with the Clear Sky Sect. The clan was financially destitute because of his prideful refusal to serve either Spirit Hall or the empire, forcing him to seek supplies during clan gatherings. 116
When the Defense and Strength Clans entered the Tang Sect, Bai He visited the Defense Clan residence with more than a dozen Speed Clan members, accompanied by his granddaughter Bai Chenxiang. Niu Gao and Tai Tan concealed their ability to support the Speed Clan in order to make Bai He more receptive to Tang Sect recruitment. 116 117
Fang Yuan demonstrated a Fixed-Mounted Soul Cannon shell and challenged Bai He to a race to the Dragon Rising City Lord's Manor and back. Despite receiving a three-breath head start, Bai He was beaten when Fang Yuan returned with the golden pearl first. 118 119 120
After witnessing Fang Yuan's power and receiving the promise of resources for his clan, Bai He pledged the Speed Clan to the Tang Sect. He also entrusted the clan's heirloom, the Crystal Blood Dragon Ginseng, to Fang Yuan. 120
Fang Yuan later brought Bai He to absorb a hundred-thousand-year Evil Eye Tyrant soul ring and skull bone. The ring's spiritual backlash nearly overwhelmed him, but Fang Yuan's Adaptation Gu stabilized the absorption, allowing Bai He to become a Titled Douluo. 143 144
Appearance
Bai He is a tall, slender elder with a youthful face and snow-white hair flowing down to his waist. 116
- Wears a coarse gray robe when meeting Fang Yuan and Yang Wudi at the academy. 139
- Carries himself with the pride expected of the Speed Clan's chief. 116 119
Personality
Bai He is proud of both his clan and his speed, initially finding it difficult to accept that Fang Yuan could beat him in a race even after granting him a head start. He nevertheless accepts the result once faced with proof, showing the composure of an experienced veteran. 119 120
The Speed Clan's hardships weigh heavily on him, particularly because Bai Chenxiang lacks the cultivation resources available to disciples of stronger sects. Fang Yuan's assistance to Bai Chenxiang and his promise to help Bai He reach Titled Douluo move him to deep loyalty toward the Tang Sect. 117 121
He is also sociable and teasing among old friends, joking with Yang Wudi while awaiting their ninth soul rings. 139
Abilities & Skills
Speed-Focused Martial Soul
Bai He's Swift-Tailed Rain Swallow Martial Soul specializes in speed rather than direct offense. His speed was renowned across the continent before Fang Yuan's teleportation-based victory exposed the difference between conventional speed and Fixed Immortal Travel. 119 140 144
- Formerly regarded as the fastest man on the continent by Bai Chenxiang. 119
- His speed-oriented build leaves him comparatively weak in direct offensive and defensive options. 144
- Can be supplemented effectively with Tang Sect Soul Tools. 117 144
Evil Eye Tyrant Spiritual Abilities
Bai He gained a hundred-thousand-year ninth soul ring and skull bone from the spiritual-attribute Evil Eye Tyrant. 143 144
- His two soul-ring skills disrupt opponents' thoughts and distort their perceptions. 144
- His skull-bone ability enhances his own spiritual power while reducing enemy spiritual power over an area. 144
- He possesses four spiritual skills in total, turning him into an exceptionally troublesome attrition-focused opponent. 144
- The absorption initially exceeded his mental endurance; Fang Yuan's Adaptation Gu was necessary to counter the Evil Eye Tyrant's spiritual backlash. 143 144

- Crystal Blood Dragon Ginseng — The Speed Clan's heirloom, which Bai He gives to Fang Yuan after the Speed Clan joins the Tang Sect. 120
- Fixed-Mounted Soul Cannon — Bai He is impressed by the cannon shell's potential for the Speed Clan, whose speed would help compensate for its lack of offensive methods. 117 118
Relationships
- Bai Chenxiang — His granddaughter and the Speed Clan's young patriarch. Bai He is fiercely invested in her future and is overjoyed when her martial soul evolves into the Golden Crow. 116 120 121
- Fang Yuan — Tang Sect Supreme Elder who recruits Bai He through a speed wager, provides resources for Bai Chenxiang, and personally enables Bai He's rise to Titled Douluo. 118 120 144
