Background

Du Bei is a transmigrator who arrived on the Douluo Continent over twenty years before the chat group appeared. During his early years as a one-ring Soul Master, he gathered commoners as subordinates; after more than a decade of management, he became the Black Hand Gang’s boss in Notting City. 11

Before obtaining the chat group’s rewards, he worked as Nuoding Academy’s gatekeeper while caring for his adopted younger sister, Xiao Wu. His martial soul was an unremarkable wooden stick, and his innate soul power was only Level 1. 2

He built the Black Hand Gang into an organization with influence beyond Notting City. Although it collects protection money, Du Bei orders his subordinates to assist village children and recruit willing people regardless of their soul-power level. 14 By the time he reaches Heaven Dou City, the gang’s name and prospective membership system are already widely known there. 66
