Background

Lin Mo obtained Tyrunt through the revival of a Jaw Fossil at the Revival Laboratory. Newly revived, it was wary of its surroundings but approached Lin Mo after noticing his Pokémon Food, sniffing his hand and rubbing its head against him. Steven praised its exceptional potential as a rare fossil Pokémon. 18

During its early training in Petalburg Woods, Tyrunt developed Dragon Dance, Ice Fang, and Dragon Tail. Its first major battle was against Roxanne's Lileep, where it used Dragon Dance to evade Lileep's attacks and defeated it with Ice Fang. It was subsequently knocked out by Roxanne's Geodude after refusing to retreat despite severe injuries. 24 27 28

Lin Mo later focused on correcting Tyrunt's endurance weakness, supplying it with Advanced Pokémon Energy Orbs, Attack and Stamina Enhancers, and additional move knowledge. Desert training strengthened its stamina, Rock-type energy control, and ability to transition between moves before it evolved into Tyrantrum. 33 47 69 71 73

Appearance

As a Tyrunt, it was a small dinosaur roughly half a meter tall, with dark gray scales carrying a metallic sheen and a large, tooth-filled jaw. 18 After evolving, it became an imposing Tyrantrum nearly three meters tall, built like an ancient tyrannosaurus and capable of carrying Lin Mo on its back. 73 75

Personality

Tyrantrum combines an intimidating appearance with a childlike and affectionate temperament. It is curious, energetic, and eager to show off its progress to Lin Mo, often rubbing its head against him after receiving praise. 18 25

It is exceptionally proud in battle. Against Geodude, it continued trying to fight despite exhaustion and heavy injuries; against Steelix, it repeatedly insisted on head-on clashes even when both Pokémon were visibly hurting themselves. 28 138

Outside battle, it is gentle and helpful. It guards Lin Mo's camp at night, voluntarily carries his backpack during travel, and calmly lets fans touch and photograph it after the Mauville Gym battle. 67 69 85

Its mischievous streak becomes especially pronounced around Larvesta. The two frequently race through the wilderness, prank others, and encourage each other's reckless behavior. 135 136
