Background / History

Naruto was one of Uchiha Sen’s few friends in Konoha. He had played with Sen for years, understood Sen’s alien-invasion roleplay, and had dragged him into the forest on the night of the Uchiha clan massacre. Naruto joins in by answering to Sen’s designation of “Double-Zero Two.” 1 3

He fails the Genin Exam because of the Clone Technique, then follows Mizuki’s instructions to steal the Scroll of Seals. Sen secretly follows him to protect him, while Naruto studies the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique from the scroll. 3
