Background / History
Origin
The Dou Qi Continent was not directly born from the fortunes of Chaos. A green lotus took root in Chaos, grew from a single seed, and nurtured a crude world within its lotus bud. That original world developed mountains, life, races, and civilizations over time. 417
Two supreme experts eventually discovered the green lotus and fought over it. Their battle shattered the original world, but a continent at its core was protected by the lotus and broke through the boundary of its former universe. The survivors rebuilt from that remnant, forming the Dou Qi Continent known in the present era. 417
The green lotus remains inseparably connected to the continent and is its true Plane Embryo. The Plane Embryo once controlled by the First Emperor was only one of the lotus’s seeds. 422
First Emperor and the Emperor’s Path
The First Emperor was the continent’s first Dou Di and the founder who deduced Dou Qi cultivation to its peak before passing down its path. He divided the Plane Embryo under his control into twenty-two origins, which should have retained the ability to transform Origin Qi. 413 417
In ancient times, the first Dou Di could control the World Origin and mobilize the Power of a Realm. Later Dou Di required both a trace of World Origin and Emperor’s Origin Qi to advance. 280 281
The First Emperor’s method allowed later cultivators to reach the Dou Di realm, but the resulting Dou Di were dependent on the continent’s environment. Outside the Dou Qi Continent, their strength could be suppressed to roughly the level of a Great Perfection Earth Supreme. 416
Ancient War and the Great Formation
The continent endured a long conflict with foreign enemies later identified as the Outer Realm Evil Race. Its ancient Dou Di fought against them over countless years before sealing hostile forces and establishing a Great Formation around the continent. 380 414
The Great Formation hides the Dou Qi Continent, isolates it from Chaos, and is especially accommodating toward those native to the continent. Its complexity suggests that ancient formations once reached a level far beyond the continent’s later arts of formation-making. 286
Zhao Li links the appearance of the Great Formation to the later disappearance of Origin Qi. The seal preserved the continent from outside threats, but its loss of Origin Qi left no clear path to Dou Di for ten thousand years. 379 383
Geography and Environment
- The Dou Qi Continent is vast enough that even a Dou Zun would require considerable time to traverse it; its maps were compiled gradually by ordinary people rather than by peak experts. 33
- Numerous deep mountains, Ruins, and remote regions remain unrecorded or unexplored. 59
- The Central Plains possess denser Dou Qi and more active Heaven and Earth Energy than the Eastern Region; this accumulated environmental advantage contributes to the Central Plains producing far more experts. 128
- Sky’s Edge City is the only city within ten thousand li with a Spatial Channel, making it a major transit point for travel toward the Central Plains. 43
- Beyond the continent lies a dark expanse described as Chaos. Despite its dangers, some areas near the continent still contain Dou Qi because they have been incorporated into the continent’s range. 283
- The Great Formation encompasses the entire continent; its individual components include killing and illusion formations, while its core is hidden in a separate space. 286 381
Cultivation System
Realm Framework
| Realm group | Realms | Defining capability |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation | Dou Qi / Dou Disciple, Dou Zhe | A Dou Zhe condenses a Dou Qi Cyclone, gains Internal Sight, and begins actively absorbing, taming, and controlling Dou Qi. 3 398 |
| Dou Qi control | Dou Master, Da Dou Shi, Dou Ling | Cultivators refine their control over their own Dou Qi; techniques such as Dou Qi Veils, armor, and Agile Transformation reflect this control. 5 6 |
| External energy | Dou Wang, Dou Emperor | Cultivators use their own Dou Qi as a medium to interact with and borrow Heaven and Earth Energy. 5 6 |
| Rules | Dou Zong, Dou Zun, Dou Sheng | Dou Zong cultivators begin contacting the Rule Origin; higher realms deepen control of rules and the Power of Heaven and Earth. 6 398 |
| Emperor realm | Dou Di | Traditionally requires Origin Qi and a deeper connection to the continent’s World Origin. 281 392 |
The continent’s cultivation system is regarded as highly developed because it breaks the path toward higher realms into successive, standardized stages. Zhao Li identifies Dou Zhe, Dou Wang, Dou Zong, and Dou Sheng as its four major thresholds. 171 398
Dou Qi and Cultivation Methods
Dou Qi is the continent’s fundamental energy. Before conversion through a cultivation method, it is effectively Chaos-attribute Dou Qi containing the potential for every attribute. 10
Cultivation methods determine how efficiently a cultivator absorbs, converts, tempers, and controls Dou Qi. Higher-ranked methods improve absorption and conversion, while Dou Techniques determine how much external energy can be mobilized in combat. 5 7
Most cultivators follow an attribute-compatible cultivation method. Zhao Li demonstrates that sufficiently precise control can instead convert Dou Qi between fire, metal, wood, and a chaotic all-attribute state. 10 140
Origin Qi
Origin Qi is a special energy transformed from a Plane Embryo. The continent’s Emperor’s Origin Qi originated from its World Origin, itself a transformation of Chaos Qi. 280 434
The depletion of Origin Qi severed the conventional path to Dou Di for ten thousand years. Its restoration enables Dou Di to continue cultivating rather than stagnating immediately after their breakthroughs. 379 466
Plane Embryo and World Growth
- The green lotus is the true Plane Embryo of the Dou Qi Continent and can nurture new lotus seeds. 422
- Unlike ordinary worlds, the continent’s Plane Embryo can condense repeatedly, allowing more than one Heavenly Supreme to be born from it. 381
- The continent grows stronger as its powerful inhabitants increase in strength; a stronger world can in turn support more and stronger existences. 422
- Zhao Li receives a Green Lotus Seed granting him second-highest authority over the Plane Embryo. 422
- Zhao Li’s intended elevation plan begins with restoring Origin Qi, strengthening the continent’s origin, and encouraging “Hundred Emperors Coexisting” and “Hundred Schools of Thought Contend.” 423
