Background / History
Lin Lan was the only Seventh-Grade Alchemist in the Great Qian Empire and the Sect Master of the Pill Sect when Zhao Lingxiao sought his help for Zhao Li's unusual condition. While regulating the child's body, Lin Lan discovered Zhao Li's immense Soul Power and Fire Attribute with Wood Tendencies. Recognizing him as a natural alchemist, he agreed to accept Zhao Li as a disciple once the boy began cultivating dou qi. 1
Before settling into his role as Zhao Li's master, Lin Lan travelled with the Yun Family sisters. He rose from Dou Wang to High-level Dou Emperor over ten years and became a Seventh-Grade Alchemist, but his growing confidence drew him into conflict with Yin Ming. Lin Lan loved the younger Yun sister, while Yin Ming coveted his Soul Power and subjected him to prolonged humiliation and loss. 130
After Zhao Li captured and sealed Yin Ming, Lin Lan finally confronted the man responsible for his greatest grief. Having reached Dou Zun, Lin Lan killed Yin Ming outright, but acknowledged that revenge could not restore the people he had lost. 130 131
Lin Lan later entrusted the Danyuan Sect to Zhao Li while he returned to White Cloud City, and eventually prepared to pass the sect master position to his disciple. 131 155 156
Appearance

- Often presents himself as a calm, approachable elder. 11 129

Personality
Lin Lan is patient, observant, and deeply invested in nurturing Zhao Li's growth. He does not pry into his disciple's unusual techniques, instead focusing on providing instruction, resources, travel experience, and practical advice. 11 20
He is protective of Zhao Li but avoids excessive interference, preferring to let his disciple gain experience and reveal his own abilities. He also encourages Zhao Li to conceal his extraordinary talent until he possesses enough strength to protect himself. 20 21 26
Beneath his composed manner, Lin Lan carries lasting regret over his past and the Yun Family. In later years, he becomes more emotionally open, openly expressing pride in Zhao Li and advising him not to repeat his own mistakes in matters of the heart. 131 158 161
