Abyss's Gaze

Space seemed to tear apart over New York.

Three Plumbers interstellar assault ships pierced through the clouds and landed in Manhattan. Blue exhaust plumes melted the asphalt. The hatches popped open, and hundreds of armed drones swarmed out, sealing off the blockade.

The special agents of the Plumbers lined up and descended the gangway.

"Sir!" The assault team leader ran up to Jiang Li, stood at attention, and saluted.

Jiang Li nodded and gave the order.

"Clean up the battlefield. Take over the street surveillance. Put those idiots on the ground into suppression pods and take them back to the lunar prison."

"Yes!"

The agents spread out. Energy handcuffs locked the unconscious Sinister Six. A traction beam rose, hoisting them into the assault ship's lower deck. A medical robot slid toward Chief George Stacy, firing a green healing ray to heal the abrasions on his arm.

Director George Stacy looked at the well-organized alien army, then turned to look at his daughter.

Gwen shrugged.

Jiang Li picked up Albedo with one hand, threw him into the interrogation room of the assault ship, and locked the airlock with his other hand.

The interrogation room was dimly lit.

Albedo slammed onto the alloy floor, coughing up blood. His hands were locked in magnetic handcuffs, and he stared intently at Jiang Li.

Jiang Li pulled up a chair and sat down. He took out the broken red Ultimatrix and threw it on the iron table.

"Who gave you the technology?" Jiang Li tapped the table. "Don't tell me you invented it yourself. With your limited brain capacity, you couldn't have built the ultimate watch that could traverse the universe."

Albedo sneered.

"You don't understand, Jiang Li. The code in this table comes from the ' Abyss.' Azmuth's hypocritical peace theory is outdated! Only killing and devouring can force out the ultimate potential of genes!"

Jiang Li didn't waste any words.

A thought flashed through my mind.

Swish!

Jiang Li shrunk, becoming an alien only half a meter tall with frog-like eyes.

Grey Matter!

The Grey Matter leaped onto the iron table, pressing his hands against the tattered red dial. His fingers flew, leaving afterimages.

"What are you doing?!" Albedo shouted in terror. "That's my core data!"

"Physical hacking."

The Grey Matter pulled out a miniature probe from his waist and plunged it into the core chip of Ultimatrix.

Sizzle!

Red arcs of electricity crackled wildly. A holographic screen popped up in mid-air, and countless lines of red code cascaded down like a waterfall.

The Grey Matter's eyes were glued to the screen, his brain working at overclock.

"Found it."

He pulled out a red fiber optic cable and connected it directly to the Omnitrix on his left wrist.

"System. Force overwrite."

[Homologous variant code detected...]

[Removing the ' Evolutionary Feedback ' mechanism... eliminating the source of Abyss contamination...]

[Extract the pure 'Evolutionary' algorithm.]

"No! Give me back my hard work!" Albedo struggled frantically, the magnetic handcuffs cutting into his skin and drawing blood.

The Grey Matter completely ignored him.

[Merger begins.]

The green high-dimensional runes on the Omnitrix dial spun wildly, gradually devouring and assimilating the red code. The blinding green light illuminated the entire interrogation room.

Bang!

The red Ultimatrix was completely reduced to a pile of scrap metal.

[Ding! Evolutionary algorithm integration complete.]

The Grey Matter jumped off the iron table.

Jiang Li transformed back into human form. He raised his left wrist. A ring of dark gold markings appeared around the edge of the watch face—the mark of "Ultimate."

"Thanks for the delivery." Jiang Li looked at Albedo, who was slumped on the ground. "As for the ' Abyss ' you mentioned, I'll personally go and smash its bones."

Jiang Li turned around, opened the airlock, and walked out of the interrogation room.

Gwen was waiting in the hallway.

"All done?" Gwen stepped forward.

"A minor Upgrade." Jiang Li flicked his wrist. "Have you finished cleaning up the mess on Earth?"

"Dad's gone to deal with the New York City government. The site for the Plumbers branch has been chosen in an abandoned air-raid shelter beneath the Statue of Liberty. Construction has already begun," Gwen reported.

"Well done. Come on, let me show you around the assault ship."

Jiang Li took Gwen's hand and walked towards the bridge.

The two stood side by side in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the city that was being rebuilt. Sunlight shone on the ruins of Manhattan, and everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction.

Jiang Li's communicator on his wrist suddenly vibrated.

This is the highest level of black alert for the Moon Base.

Jiang Li pressed the answer button.

A holographic projection popped up. Tony Stark's face appeared on the screen. He wasn't wearing armor, his hair was disheveled, and his eyes showed unprecedented terror.

"Jiang Li ...you must come back immediately. Right now." Tony's voice trembled.

"What's wrong? Is Ross causing trouble again?" Jiang Li frowned.

"It's not the military. It's... Heaven."

Tony flipped the camera and pointed it at the sky.

Jiang Li and Gwen both gasped simultaneously.

On the screen, the sky in the Main Universe (Earth-616) is no longer blue.

A bright sun hangs high in the sky.

But that sun was black.

A thick, asphalt-like black substance is enveloping the entire star at an alarming rate. Sunlight is being completely swallowed up. Earth is plunged into an eternal night where no one can see their own hand in front of their face.

"Satellite communication lost. All deep space probes destroyed." Tony swallowed hard. "That black stuff... is spreading towards Earth."

"Symbiotes." Jiang Li uttered three words.

He remembered the word Albedo had used in the interrogation room— the Abyss.

That is the oldest darkness in the Marvel Universe. It predates the Infinity Stones and is older than Galactus.

Jiang Li's eyes instantly turned icy cold, his killing intent surging.

"I'll go back right away."

Jiang Li cut off the communication and turned to look at Gwen.

"The holiday is over."

Jiang Li pressed down on the Omnitrix.

"Target: Main Universe. All ships, warp!"
