Background

Xiao Wu begins as the boss of Notting Junior Soul Master Academy’s Seventh Dormitory. She enforces the dormitory rule that whoever defeats her becomes the boss, challenging Ye Hua over his bedding upon his arrival. Ye Hua defeats her despite her close-combat ability, and she honors their wager by calling him “brother.” 6 7

Her initial bond with Ye Hua changes her view of Tang San. Tang San’s fixation and hostile behavior make her uncomfortable, while Ye Hua’s protection and treatment of the work-study students earn her trust. She eventually recognizes Tang San’s hypocrisy, rejects his claims over her, and openly identifies Ye Hua as her brother. 7 12 14

Xiao Wu moves into Ye Hua’s rented villa rather than remain in a dormitory shared with Tang San. She initially misunderstands Ye Hua’s unusual abilities as proof that he is also a transformed Soul Beast, then later learns that he is an Auspicious Beast in Qilin form. 10 20 21 60 61

She is deeply loyal to those she accepts as family. Her attachment to Ye Hua grows from trust in his protection into a committed relationship, and she repeatedly defends him against Tang San’s accusations. 10 14 26

Although often playful and mischievous, Xiao Wu is also perceptive about Soul Beasts’ circumstances. When Ye Hua proposes the Soul Spirit system, she immediately identifies its central ethical problem: Soul Beast souls would dissipate when their Soul Master dies unless a lasting refuge is created. 81 153 196

Her confidence extends to dangerous trials. During the Sea God Island tests, she readily takes the lead against Xiao Bai’s shark pack and confronts the hundred-thousand-year Demon Soul Great White Shark without hesitation. 425

Her loyalty includes a willingness to sacrifice her own opportunities for her companions. Xiao Wu challenges Ye Hua for control of Seventh Dormitory, loses, and calls him “brother.” Her presence is central to Ye Hua’s effort to counter Tang San’s Protagonist Halo and prevent Tang San from influencing her. 6 7

The Dark Salvation System identifies Xiao Wu as a rescue target whose original destiny would involve sacrificing herself as Tang San’s Soul Ring and becoming the Asura Sword Scabbard. Ye Hua’s intervention is intended to divert this fate, rather than describe events Xiao Wu has already experienced. Her initial bond with him completes the “Kidnap Xiao Wu” mission and grants him the Villain Aura that suppresses Tang San’s Protagonist Halo. 1 2 6 7

After overhearing Tang San speak possessively about winning her affection, Xiao Wu recognizes his lust and hypocrisy. She supports Ye Hua during the Mandala Snake incident, condemns Tang San’s ingratitude, and breaks any possibility of friendship with him. 12 14

She continues defending Ye Hua at Shrek Academy, helping Zhu Zhuqing knock Tang San unconscious after his hidden-weapon attack and rejecting attempts to place them on the same tournament team. 45 55

The conflict escalates when Tang San poisons Ye Hua’s group with drugs and collaborates with Bule and his accomplices. After Ye Hua counters the ambush, Xiao Wu uses Teleportation to attack one of the assailants and condemns Tang San’s attempt to excuse his actions. She then castrates him with a Soul Power-infused kick before the city patrol takes him away. 80 81

Star Dou Forest Arc

Xiao Wu learns that Ye Hua is a Qilin Auspicious Beast and worries about the danger he faces among humans. She is later taken to the Star Dou Forest Core Area, where the Soul Beasts recognize Ye Hua’s status and Di Tian grants her a Soft Bone Rabbit Spirit Bone. 61 67 72 73

The first trial’s rewards reveal that her Top-Level Seven Trials can increase Soul Ring ages. Under Sea God’s Light, her second Soul Ring changes from yellow to purple, and she excitedly calls Ye Hua’s attention to the upgrade. 424

During a later trial involving Xiao Bai and her shark pack, Xiao Wu takes the lead in combat, uses Waist Bow to defeat an attacking shark, and relies on Invincible Golden Body to block Xiao Bai’s full-power tail strike. 425

Her group reaches the reef and returns safely after Wang Qiu’er wounds Xiao Bai with the Golden Dragon Spear, completing the second trial. The trial requires a round trip through the shallow sea without seriously injuring any Soul Beast. 425

The second trial’s rewards add at least a thousand years to the participants’ Soul Rings and raise Xiao Wu to Quasi-Soul Douluo. Ye Hua then calls her and Jiangzhu forward and gives each an Adaptive Spirit Ring suited to their advancement. 427

During Tidal Body Tempering, Xiao Wu absorbs a suitable Immortal Herb supplied by Ye Hua while enduring waves tied to an iron pillar. After a year of trials and cultivation, she accepts and begins absorbing an Adaptive Spirit Ring from him, reassured that providing the rings carries no cost to him. 428 436

Against the Seven Sacred Pillar Douluos, Xiao Wu joins Zhu Zhuqing, Meng Yiran, and Huo Wu in attacking Sea Dragon Douluo. His Self-Sacrifice Skill trades defense for overwhelming offense, forcing her to repeatedly withstand his punches with Invincible Golden Body. When Wang Qiu’er is knocked toward the arena’s edge, Xiao Wu throws her back onto the platform and lands outside it herself, accepting elimination because her own Soul Power is depleted. 443 445

Following the sixth trial, Xiao Wu is explicitly named among the companions who reach Title Douluo. She receives a hundred-thousand-year Adaptive Spirit Ring from Ye Hua and begins absorbing it with the others. 446

Sun-Moon Continent and Qiankun Love Valley Arc

Xiao Wu accompanies Ye Hua’s group to the Sun-Moon Continent in their search for higher-tier Divine Relics. When a cavalry unit confronts them, the companions display their nine Soul Rings, confirming Xiao Wu’s advancement to Title Douluo. 452

During an attack by maddened Soul Beasts, she orders the companions into formation to protect Ye Hua and Qian Renxue, then charges first and kills an attacker with Waist Bow. 457

In the Qiankun Love Valley trial, she agrees to drive a conjured golden dagger into her heart after recalling Ye Hua’s assurance that he will intervene if needed. The dagger dissolves on contact, and the trial declares her sincerity proven. She subsequently realizes that the trial’s administrator did not know Ye Hua had privately sent them messages. 461

Abyssal Invasion Arc

Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong attempt to escape through an Abyssal army while Ning Rongrong suppresses the glow of her protective Soul Skill. Xiao Wu carries her, creates nine Martial Soul Avatar clones to scatter their pursuers, and uses Moonlight Sky-Shattering Kill to destroy the squad captain blocking their path. 465

A Demon Lord of demigod strength intervenes and offers her a position in the Abyss. Xiao Wu refuses, survives his trident attack with Invincible Golden Body, and escapes the encirclement. An ice-blue sword then pierces the Demon Lord. 465

When Ye Hua arranges the group’s retreat to the Sun-Moon Continent, Xiao Wu initially refuses to leave without him. She ultimately accepts his instruction to act as the group’s big sister and lead the others to safety. 466

During the later defensive war, the ruined third defensive line is abandoned in favor of the fourth. When Xue Beng asks when the Long Night Alliance’s leader will arrive, Xiao Wu estimates at least half a week. Recognizing the need for additional support, she proposes recruiting Soul Beasts from the Far North Forest and leaves to find the Titan Snow Demon King. The Abyss counterattacks the following morning before either the reinforcements or Ye Hua arrives. 517

Mother’s Resurrection Arc

During the fighting involving Bibi Dong at Jialing Pass, Xiao Wu’s distress becomes apparent to Ning Rongrong and Ye Hua. After the ceasefire, she can no longer conceal that Bibi Dong killed her mother and took her ninth Soul Ring.
