Background / History

Tang Yu initially kept Lin Xuan as her Sword Slave. She intervened when other disciples targeted him, then had him repair her precious sword with his blood. She frequently used him as a sparring partner for her Clear Wind Sword Technique; despite claiming she would not use spiritual energy, she ultimately did so and injured him. She nevertheless supplied him with a pill and acknowledged both his sword talent and his ability to nurture swords. Her swordsmanship had improved through three months of training with him. 1

After Lin Xuan entered the outer sect, Tang Yu recognized his exceptional swordsmanship during the Bamboo Forest Guard examination and tried to recruit him into the Battle Group. He repeatedly declined, partly because of his distrust of Duan Fei's attitude toward him. 6 7
