Background and History

Shi Tou found Xiao Wu abandoned as an infant on a heavily foggy day and named him for the fog. His swaddling clothes held a jade pendant marked with the character “Xiao.” Shi Tou raised him, and Xiao Wu initially pursued strength so he could protect his adoptive grandfather 24 43.

When Shi Tou showed the pendant to Xiao Han, its pattern identified Xiao Wu as a core descendant of another Xiao Clan branch. Xiao Han took him as a disciple and chose not to reveal his lineage immediately 24 43. Xiao Wu later learned that his master’s real name was Xiao Han and that their origins were connected. Although he acknowledged his clan ancestry, he preferred to be known as Xiao Han’s disciple 45 169.

At Langya Pavilion, Xiao Wu advanced rapidly while Xiao Han spent years in seclusion. After testing him in combat, Xiao Han gave him the Ice Emperor Scripture to replace his introductory cultivation method 45 52 54. Xiao Wu subsequently traveled to the Yaori Mountain Range in search of Heavenly Ice, but the object he encountered was a transformed Dou Sheng-level being that Xiao Han warned him not to target 58 69 73.

Xiao Wu and Xian’er later worked together to obtain the Poison Pill method for her condition 198. At the Bodhi Ancient Tree, he defended her against the Soul Clan and Heaven Demon Phoenix Clan, killing members of the hostile factions and drawing retaliation against Langya Pavilion 338 339. Years later, the pair returned to Langya Heavenly Palace and took part in its defense against the Extraterrestrial Evil race 540 541.

Appearance

As a teenager, Xiao Wu is described as handsome and is seen practicing with an ice-blue longsword 45.

Personality

Xiao Wu is intensely focused on cultivation and generally avoids lively social occasions. He was initially stubborn with Xiao Han, but came to appreciate the care behind his master’s instruction and resources 24 42 45 54.

In danger, he can be composed and resourceful, as when he called Xiao Han to the ruins in the Yaori Mountain Range 70 71. He can also be reckless: using his Natal Ice Crystal during a sparring match forced Xiao Han to knock him unconscious, and his actions at the Bodhi Ancient Tree brought consequences for Langya Pavilion 53 54 339. Among people close to him, his reserved outward manner gives way to teasing and a persistent love of food 59 540.

Xiao Wu’s ice-attribute constitution makes him suited to Xiao Han’s teachings. He first learned the Earth Rank Low-Level Ice Sealing Skill, then received the Heaven Rank Middle Grade Ice Emperor Scripture 24 42 54.

• The Ice Sealing Skill allows its practitioner to condense a Natal Ice Crystal. Xiao Han warns that deploying the crystal is dangerous and should be reserved for a life-or-death fight 42 54.
• Xiao Wu uses ice techniques including Ice Wolf Devour, Thorn Jungle, Ice Wing Thousand Strike, and Ice Meteor Sword Formation 52 53.

• Xiao Wu’s sword practice impresses Langya Pavilion disciples. By his spar with Xiao Han, he can release genuine Sword Qi from his blade; he credits Ye Shenghan with teaching him 45 52.
• He can form Dou Qi wings and combine them with an ice attack. Later, he uses a movement technique that lets his figure scatter into snowflakes 53 325.
