Red Hulk had been beheaded with a single axe strike, so there was naturally no chance of him being impossible to kill. He was not Deadpool.
The enormous head rolled across the ground, and scorching blood spilled everywhere. Red Hulk's eyes remained wide open, staring straight up at the sky.
Even now, his eyes still held unwillingness, fear, and disbelief. How had he, the mighty Red Hulk, a being even stronger than Hulk, died like this?
It seemed unbelievable, yet he had truly been this helpless before his opponent!
An excited Jean Grey ran over as well. Looking at this mysterious and powerful man standing atop the monster's body, his black cape snapping in the evening breeze, her eyes shone with brilliance.
"I never expected you to be this strong. That monster should have been even stronger than Hulk. There aren't many Mutants who can defeat Hulk."
Jean Grey's tone was filled with shock. She truly could not imagine what kind of power that body contained.
"Just average. Third best in the world."
Chen Xi modestly scratched his head and said somewhat "shyly."
"I believe you."
Jean Grey nodded blankly. She actually believed him...
Chen Xi had not expected this woman to actually believe his nonsense. Judging by her serious expression, she did not seem to be faking it.
That made him feel a little embarrassed too. Fortunately, the commotion around them was too great and the lighting too dim for her to see the awkward expression on his face.
After the battle ended, the people hiding along both sides of the road finally dared to come out and look, though they still kept far away.
"Let's go. Someone will probably call the police soon, and then S.H.I.E.L.D. will handle it."
Chen Xi did not want to deal with those S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
They would stick to him like chewing gum, watching him and making him uncomfortable. Besides, he was afraid he might accidentally crush the agents assigned to monitor him...
"Mm-hmm, let's go."
Jean Grey nodded. She wanted even less to show her face. If this matter implicated her, public opinion would push her into the spotlight again.
Vroom!!!
The Ferrari's engine let out a deep roar, and it vanished before everyone's eyes like a red bolt of lightning.
"Red Queen, delete all the nearby surveillance footage. I don't want them tracking me down through the license plate."
Chen Xi immediately ordered Red Queen to get to work. He was not afraid of those agents; he simply did not want to be disturbed.
"Yes, Master."
Red Queen answered at once. Deleting a few videos would only take minutes, and this was the suburbs, where there were not many usable cameras to begin with.
"Artificial intelligence?"
Jean Grey looked at him curiously. The secrets on this man seemed impossible to fully uncover!
"More or less. It makes handling certain things much more convenient."
Chen Xi smiled indifferently.
"I really want to pry open your head and take a look. Your secrets have me fascinated!"
Jean Grey stared at him and said languidly. The sparks in her eyes glittered brightly; it was clear she meant it.
"Hehe, I have far too many secrets. Woman, I advise you not to be too curious about me, or I'm afraid you'll fall in love with me."
Chen Xi said with a roguish grin. When it came to winning over a mature and intelligent woman like Jean Grey, playing hard to get was the safest approach.
"Tch! You narcissist. I've never met anyone more narcissistic than you. Am I really that shallow?"
Chen Xi's intensely invasive gaze made Jean Grey's pretty face flush slightly. She hurriedly scolded him coquettishly to hide her racing heart.
"Haha, whether you're shallow or not, I'll have to try to find out."
"(╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻ Get lost!!"
Jean Grey was not a child. How could she fail to understand that this guy was making shamelessly suggestive remarks?
One moment he was gentle and refined, the next cold and domineering, then frivolous again...
Which one was the real him? The thrill of his constantly shifting personality made her unable to stop herself. It seemed that whenever she was with him, they never ran out of things to talk about, and he could always stir her emotions.
Jean Grey realized her heart had been in turmoil today. She had smiled more today than on all previous days combined, and the racing of her heart was something she had not felt in a long time...
When the car slowly reached the area near Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Jean Grey suddenly asked him to stop and said softly, "Stay and talk with me a little longer."
"Okay."
Chen Xi understood. She was reluctant to return to that place that bound her so tightly she could barely breathe. Once she returned there, she would become the stern Teacher Jean Grey...
After parking the car, the two of them went to sit beside the roadside grass. The sky was filled with twinkling stars, and Chen Xi lay back with his hands behind his head, looking up as he said, "It's been so long since I last looked up at the stars. The starry sky is still so profoundly and breathtakingly beautiful."
"When I was troubled in the past, I would look at the stars. Gazing at that boundless sky would make my heart suddenly open up. In the vast universe, what did the suffering I endured really amount to?"
"Then your life must have been very hard before, right?"
Jean Grey suddenly looked at him with some heartache. People only remembered his current glory, but what had come before that glory?
"Suffering doesn't really matter. As long as the ending is good, then it was all worth it."
He was not afraid of hardship, so long as there was even a sliver of hope.
Chen Xi did not continue that thought. Instead, he turned and looked intently at the woman beside him, as if telling her that as long as dreams remained in the heart, hope remained.
"Thank you. If I'm unhappy someday, I'll quietly look up at the stars too. And I'll think of you."
"But I still want to look at the stars with you."
Chen Xi suddenly changed the subject and looked at her seriously.
Jean Grey stared at him blankly after hearing that. The air seemed to slowly freeze at that moment, then as though drawn by magnets, they moved closer to each other.
The stirring in their hearts and their budding feelings erupted in that instant. When a man and woman who liked each other looked into each other's eyes for more than ten seconds, they would feel the urge to kiss.
After a long while, Jean Grey finally could not help pushing away Chen Xi, whose hands had nowhere to go, when she began struggling to breathe...
"You jerk, I let you fool me after all."
Blushing, Jean Grey rested her little head against Chen Xi's shoulder and murmured coquettishly.
"Then are you willing to let me fool you?"
Having gotten what he wanted, Chen Xi still acted smug. His large hands began misbehaving again, with nowhere to settle.
"You're awful!"
Jean Grey pinched him irritably. Even now, this bad man was still teasing her. He was so awful.
The two quietly held each other without speaking, enjoying the peace of the moment.
Time passed bit by bit. When the moon reached its zenith, Jean Grey's phone still rang...
Annoyed, Jean Grey simply turned it off, but Charles Xavier was practically a walking communicator!
Seeing Jean Grey's reluctance, Chen Xi still took her little hand and led her toward the car.
"Let's go, my dear Teacher Jean Grey."
"If two hearts remain united, why must they be together morning and night?"
Before you continue
