Background / History

Natasha escaped the Red Room Base in Siberia during Feng Xu’s arrival on Earth. Already injured and near death, she was accidentally crushed by Feng Xu’s leaking aura before he healed her completely, restoring the parts of her body altered or removed by the Red Room. 1 2

When Feng Xu offered to make her his disciple, Natasha initially asked whether she could exchange the opportunity to cultivate for Yelena Belova’s rescue. Feng Xu instead promised that she could save Yelena herself if she became powerful enough to destroy the Red Room within six years. Natasha accepted him as her master, motivated by her refusal to abandon Yelena. 2

At Kamar-Taj, Natasha became Feng Xu’s first Body Tempering disciple and was formally designated an outer disciple, gaining access to the Scripture Pavilion and a monthly Spirit Stone allowance. She selected the Ninety-Nine Heavens Spirit-Calling Art, an art created by Feng Xu, and received extensive knowledge of Eastern myths and legends needed to cultivate it. 11 12

More than a year later, Natasha returned to the Red Room to rescue Yelena and destroy the organization that raised her. She infiltrated the East Siberian base, fought alongside Nick Fury briefly, defeated Alexei while using Spirit Invocation, and ultimately killed Dreykov before the base self-destructed. Mordo and Kaecilius extracted her from the explosion and returned her to Kamar-Taj. 13 14 16 19 21

Feng Xu confined Natasha to the sect until she reached the Qi Refining Realm because she had departed without permission. Her later unauthorized involvement in the Dark Dimension incident led to additional punishment: a six-month suspension of her Spirit Stone allowance and copying the sect rules one thousand times. 22 33

Natasha later assisted Clea, Mordo, and Kaecilius in the Dark Dimension, where she helped restrain Clea before accepting her as an ally against Dormammu. She subsequently fought in the Dark Elves’ invasion, defeated Malekith, and helped recover the Reality Stone for the sect. 28 29 41 43 44

By the time she had trained for over a year at Kamar-Taj, Natasha was fifteen years old but appeared closer to eighteen due to cultivation and spiritual-energy nourishment. 12

She is ambitious and impatient with slow cultivation, choosing palm acupoints for direct combat power and repeatedly seeking pills or other methods to accelerate her advancement. 10 47 She also values the Ethereal Ascension Sect more than her former adoptive family, regarding Feng Xu and her fellow disciples as the people who truly treated her well. 18

Despite her ruthlessness in battle, Natasha can be respectful and diplomatic when dealing with summoned immortals and deities, recognizing that stronger and more intelligent summons must be treated as individuals rather than tools. 25 She is also mischievous, enjoys teasing Mordo and Kaecilius, and frequently tries to claim Clea’s cultivation resources for herself. 12 46
